@OidrunkIrirshninja Cung Le is confident but rarely cocky. He's actually very humble. I think he had a bad case of cage rust coming into this fight plus a short time to prepare. Even so he dominated the fight until near the very end. He was well on his way to a decision when he got caught. It's not like Smith beat him with a masterful gameplan Cung just gassed due to poor conditioning went for the knockout instead of playing it safe in the 3rd and paid the price. In the rematch he was superior.

This time a guy who can and will knock you out stoned him and followed it up with an ass whoopin.

Yes, his lost was shocking but that just shows he's still human, I guess. And you cant really blame him cause he's got so many other things going for him such as film work and personal issues with his Ex. Cung le is a great champion, win or loose, he is still gracious. And we all know he is one of greatest fighters, if not the best. I just hope he learns and be really good on his ground work. And after that i believe he will possibly be the Greatest. Very much respect to Cung Le.

I think for cung's fighting style he's too old already, he should not fight anymore. He needs a lot of energy and stamina to fight the way he does. He lost that fight all becuase of lack of stamina and energy.  And his idea of getting better on the ground is worthless, can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I played soccer, i'm 35 and it ain't fun going out to played against guys in their 20's. They'll shoulder bumped you and send you falling flat on the ground.

Cung told me over Myspace he wants a rematch. I think he was very graceful in defeat so I don't know what you are talking about? Can he hang? Obviously since he was kicking Smith's ass for 2 1/2 Rounds. He just got caught. If they rematch I think he will win decisively next time. Alot of people are also calling for Manhoef vs. Le. That would be interesting.

Manhoef is to heavy for Lee. And it's true he was winning the fight by a big margin. But in mma and boxing one punch can finish the fight. Cung Lee didn't have the power to putt Smith down, or maybe Smith's jaw was to good. Smith can take Lee down and he has the hear to be kicked around for 3 rounds ands keep coming. So I wouldn't say that he would win easy against Smith in the rematch

@QuanThug all the great fighters i know of have lost to an through opponent luck at least once or twice (eg ali and pacqiao). the only reason why twits like you are hard on him is because he was pretty much invincible until the last fight and people like you like to capitalize on his loss because you guys are fucking haters. truth is, he's an awesome fighter, he's an honorable fighter, and he is a minority among other fighters of mma. one loss doesn't mean shit (let alone a lucky one).

cung lees hands were down .. he was tired...i dont think it has anything to do with the lord playing the joystick...cung was tired and he let his hands down... power of the lord is within us all..we use it as we choose...cung made a choice by having his hands down and he paid for it ...watch the video before the knockout...cung lee had him at least two times on the ground pounding him...cung should have played it safe during the 3rd round,,, his hands dropped and scott took atvantage of it

I think people are underestimating Cung. Anderson Silva has never fought a striker on Cung Le's level. I think Cung would give Anderson a very good fight and would not be surprised if he won.

the fight against frank shamrock wasn't a total domination if anything it was a close fight. cung lee was very open and i think anderson would capitalize on that. then again anderson as never defeated an asian fighter LOL

Cung won every Round against Shamrock. It wasn't total domination but he was clearly dictating the pace until the last minute and a half of the 3rd Round where Frank landed a good shot and went for the KO. Frank is a very good striker so I don't think Cung should be written off from beating Silva because of that. Anderson actually has beaten Asian fighters it's just that all except for one of his 4 losses is to an Asian. But one of those losses was a DQ due to illegal upkick KO by Silva.

I think that if Cung Le remains undefeated Dana would give him a title shot after 1 or 2 fights the way he did Anderson Silva against Rich Franklin. Cung Le is a huge potential draw. The problem is that Cung Le has atleast 3 fights left with Strikeforce and is trying to juggle a movie career. Those are huge obstacles to this fight happening. Given his age Cung doesn't have alot of time left. I think he is capable of beating Top 10 MWs he just needs the oppurtunity.

Yeah the clock is ticking. Cung Le is 37 I believe. I honestly don't seem him being able to compete in MMA at the highest level for much longer. I'd give him about 3 years. His style is a young man's style. Between the Strikeforce contract and the movie career the possibilities for him fighting Anderson Silva are slim. Silva also says he will retire soon.

I think he plans to fight throughout 2010 but it might be his last year because he wants to fight Roy Jones Jr. If he does retire this year there really is no hope for the Cung Le fight. There's no way Cung Le can finish his contract this year and then fight for the UFC.

One thing is clear, which is that Cung Le is the best standing fighter in the world at his level. So it becomes a game about whether the other guy can bring him to the ground. Perhaps the only guy could beat Cung Le standing was Liu Hailong. It's a shame that Liu retired.

Cung Le actually went to a Chinese Sanda event and formally challenged Hailong but his management forced him to decline. I think Anderson Silva and Melvin Manhoef would give Cung very tough standup fights in MMA but I do think he can hang with them.

Right now he has at least a one year contract with Strikeforce, who just got a TV deal with NBC. I'd love to see Cung Le in the UFC. Dana has been calling him but the UFC only offers exclusive contracts so Cung will stick with Strikeforce until his contract expires. If the UFC offers him a good deal maybe he'll sign up some day. Let's hope so.

The UFC is not the end all and be all of MMA ORGs. Cung was at the pinnacle of his San Shou career when his trainer convinced him to try MMA. So he trained for it and signed with Strikeforce, a local upstart ORG who had promoted many of his San Shou bouts. He has a good relationship with the promoter. Infact his first contract was non-exclusive and he nearly got a deal to compete on the Pride 33 card. He just beat one of the legends of the sport so it's not fair to assume he is ducking the UFC.
