Years ago people died from these psychadelics. Did you miss out on that part of the documentaries and stories? They got high. They liked it. They kept wanting to get high and higher than before and have better experiences and they got addicted and then overdosed and died. Such oracles had to be replaced by others due to this.

@adomjask If you read the Nag Hammadi Library or any other known Gnostic text you would know there was in fact Gnostic Churches. You seem to have a New Age concept of Gnosticism not the historical concept of Gnosticism. They had baptismal formulas, special sayings they had to utter, and special instructions. You call ritual religious delusion because you don't understand ritual.

@mahender6969 No, Hitler did not believe in Gnosticism, Gnosticism believes in a spiritual race and believes all material races are "refuse" or garbage created by a false God. Hitler believed physical races were important he wanted to restore the ancient germanic beliefs and heritage. Gnostics could care less about physical they were beyond this world so-to-speak.

Gods hebrew names arint names like we think of them. he has many names, and when they use curtain names, its explaining an aspect in that writing its used in.

A great way to get people to stop being pagan snake worshipers is to depict satin as a serpent. The serpent is subtle just like the ancient nerve systems in our body that cause us to loose control of our emotions and be filled with desire. The devil is literally inside us and as ancient nerve pathways, subtle in affecting our actions below consciousness. Our rational brain enabled civilization to occur allows us to be enlightened through allegory and symbols.

My illustration is for pointing out that Christianity, in denying the darkness within, has recontextualized the serpent: reappropriated and redirected it's pagan meaning. I should clarify that my stating that "the devil is literally inside us" is not a fundamentalist, literal interpretation of the devil like you would see from people of the book. This refers to the general temptations or passions that the stoics attempted to deliver us from.

You know, people in ancient times were not at all as adverse to psychedelics and narcotics as western society is today. They didn't see them as 'false visions', but thought of them as 'food of the gods'.

This disrespect for anything except alcohol is a Christian church invention.

Greetings, indeed I experimented with various drugs when I was a younger, nothing provided the clarity, the "high" if you will of the transfiguring power of true communion through Jesus Christ - light becomes alive, literally breathing. The experience is very similar comparable to mushrooms minus the confusion. It is really amazing and is a testament to the Kingdom. Peace and blessings.

Try lucid dreaming. When you dream, you brain produces the most powerful hallucinogen known, DMT.

DMT is released in mass quantities at the time of death.

Yep, it is highly possible that most if not all relgious experiences and deep meditative states can be put down to action of endogenous DMT. But then again who is to say that just because a chemical is the door to a line of perception that that in itself is not religious and communicating with the divine....

I used to have an Acacia tree whose species has the highest concentration by dry weight of DMT in the bark of any other source in my back-yard.
