  • Nice video man , this help me! thx

  • is this route/scenario in the game?

  • @mrtrainboy019 Yes it is. As mentioned in part-1, this route comes with RailWorks as part of the base package. It's the "Barstow to San Bernadino" route and the Free-roam scenario "Cajon pass on summer" (which I made a clone of).

  • Hey Don I cannot thank you enough my old man loves Railworks 2 but was dissapointed that he could not change stock in freem roam mode.

He would have no chance in hell, he cannot remember which button break space is on the keyboard. I got lost looking in package manager screens.

Now I feel I have a fighting chance at least to give my dad what he wants. It's novel (scenario building) and I cannot see how they could simplify it any further.

  • you didn't mention how to turn the train around to face the other way. i have yet to fiqure this out, thanks

  • @PerpetualOmega Hi there. I show how to turn a train around to face the other way in one of my other vids "Adding the Challenger". But, it's fairly easy to do, simply click on the unit you want to turn around, and a big orange-arrow should appear over it, then click on that arrow to change the direction. Cheers! :)

  • @JujitsuDon

    thx

  • how to give instructions to the AI train?...whenever i assign a AI train to move to a destination it wont work...the train wont move...sum 1 pls help me....n also i wanna know whether AI trains can come back to the same destination again?.....

  • @sangeethgopakumar1 You would give an AI train the same instructions as a drivable train. Just make sure the option is left to allow it remain as an AI train. Yes, you can make an AI train return to same destinations. Maybe I'll soon make up a video to show how it's done.

  • As a complete novice its much appreciated. It's said a picture is worth a thousand words, your moving pictures must be in the Mega range.

  • @behappyynot

Thanks for the positive comments. Glad to know it was of interest and help to you.

I'll try to make up some more video-tutorials like this in near future.

In the meantime, I also keep busy working on some of my route projects.

And if interest, you can get my "King's Arm Route", which is freeware, over at my RRYard site. :)

  • I'm trying to add the new german trains to a scenario, but I can't pick the train in the list. Any idears how to fix this? It has been installed and can see it in the packager

  • @bibihest

When in the Secenario editor, from choosing the Object Set Filter, go through the developers list of folders on the right-side fly-out menu and check the following:

EisenbahnwerkRW & Rollmaterial and GermanRailroadsRW & Rollmaterial & Hegan Seigen. Then you should have all of the German locos and stock available to choose from I believe. Cheers! :)

  • thanks man its was really halpd!!!!

  • Hi, i downloaded a train and installed it. I followed your instructions with the object set filter, the train i downloaded appears there but when i go to click it and drag it on the track nothing happens, its like nothing was selected or the train is invisble. Any idea as to why it isnt appearing ingame, it is listed in the engines tab once i enable the particular "object set filter" but it wont allow itself to be placed on the track !

    Thanks for the video btw

  • @B744ER

Clicking on an engine from the list, sometimes it can take several seconds to "load" in before it appears on your pointer. If you're right-clicking or left-clicking somewhere else before it has fully loaded in, then you may be inadvertently canceling the load. Once the train you selected from the list has fully loaded it should appear on your pointer, then move it on the tracks and left-click to place.

If this is not the problem, try updating DirectX and graphic drivers.

  • @JujitsuDon I tried what you said and waited for a full 5 minutes nothing happens lol, It wont load or appear over the cursor i cant add it in the game, UKTS takes a ridiculous amount of time to download trains so i havent tried downloading any others at the moment. I am really lost as to why the train wont appear ive done everything properly and it just wont appear on the track but is visible in the list. It is the class 317 from ukts btw. i have the latest nvidia drivers and dx10 on vista

  • @B744ER

Strange. Must be some problem with your RailWorks installation perhaps?

One way to make sure you don't have any missing or corrupt files with your RW installtion; from your Steam client, go to Games list, Right-Click on RailWorks, select Properties, Local Files, Verify integrity of game cache. This will reacquire any files that were missing or corrupt. After that, from the initial RailWorks launch window, go Tool & Docs, click on "Clear Cache" button. Good luck! PS: Try another train.

  • @JujitsuDon

Downloaded another train and it worked perfectly, must be something wrong with the one i downloaded i have no clue why as there is videos of it running perfectly and most people have managed to get it running. Thanks for your help, btw can you recommend anywhere else to download addons beside UKTS, i dont know why they put such a ridiculous waiting cue, i mean even the flightsim sites which have 10000000's more files dont have restrictions. Thanks heaps anyway ! :)

  • @B744ER Hi. Go to my site, RRYard (you can see the full link in the description with my video). Once at my site, go to the "Links" page there, and a couple of sites I recommend you visit that have a file-library you can find some goodies at are: RailWorksAmerica and TrainSim (YouTube doesn't allow posting of full links in the comments). Some freeware addons may require certain other assets or adons already installed to work properly. ReadMe files are usually included with d-loads.Cheers!

  • @JujitsuDon

Cheers mate, really appreciate your help!

  • @JujitsuDon

Just checked out your upcoming route! Some really talented work there looks great. Any electric tracks in it? Oh and i thought id let you know i managed to find out why i couldnt get the train working, because i downloaded the textures only and not the model wasnt very clear on the download LOL. *slaps self*

    Cheers :)

  • @B744ER Thanks for the positive comments about my route. It's been a lot of work and time I've put into it, but it's almost finished now. No electric tracks on my current "King's Arm" route, but I was maybe considering making a high-speed route for my next project which would have electric tracks (Maybe to make use of a train-set addon such as the 390 class or other HSTs). But check back to my site soon, as I hope to have my current route project released in near future.

  • @JujitsuDon ive got a question.

if ur not into trains as much but u think the graphs look good and the editor looks good but hasnt tryed the games whats ur opion on that? plz help me.

  • @Blazingwheel

If you like "simulator" type games and wanted something a bit different, then yes, I'd recommend RailWorks. It can be relaxing to simply take a train-ride, or sometimes it can be a challenge too depending on the route & scenario.

Though of course it helps if you have an interest in trains. This "Train-Sim" is not to everyone's liking, but that being said, if you do have some interest in trying a Train-Sim, then RailWorks is currently about the best out there.

  • @Chase1609

I forgot to mention, that for "Steam" locomotives, yes you can place them the same way as well, however, you'll also need to separately add and connect the associated "Tender" part that goes with that particular Steam-engine of your choice. Usually you'll see a Steam-engine and it's associated Tender listed close to each other on the "Engines & Tenders" list anyways.

    Good luck!

  • @Chase1609

Hi Chase. Yes, this should work for any locomotive engine or rolling stoack you have installed with RailWorks.

I made another tutorial video on how to just swap a locomotive-engine for an existing scenario you might find helpful as well. I named it "Swap an Engine with RW_Tools", you could see on my uploads list.

    Cheers! :)

  • Thanks!
