  • Love this song!!! I can't believe that anyone would be haters of this! Phil rocks!

  • @thegreat13thdoctor ..the person removed it from their own list most likely. That's how I have removed mine by accident. BTW Thanks for the great posting!! :)

  • This is such a great song... (not easy to find) - Thanks for posting!!

  • Love this song... thanks for posting = )

  • I kind of like this version . I realize that it may be overly repititious - but all versions are . Perhaps there is too much drumming . I still like it , though . There is no doubt that Phil Keaggy has more than enough skill to play this anyway one would like . ( SIng unto him a new song ; play skilfully with a loud noise . - Psalm 33:3 ) I think that is what Phil and the band were doing ! I don't see where it says to stop this in the N.T.

  • Anyone know how a comment could have been removed from here? I haven't removed any, but it looks like someone's got removed...?

  • Debate!! I love debates!

  • You know what's funny? If you go through every one of the versions of this hymn--every one of them is different! This is what PROVES we are mad in the image of God--our creativity! And whether you like a version or not is not the point. It is, indeed, that we can glorify God for His creation. Don't waste your time judging others and their walk--pray for them. God can handle His kids!

  • Correction: it's not about the KIND of music, It's whether or not it honors God and who gets to decide? OUR own likes or dislikes? And could we please stop pulling a verse out of the Scriptures to condone anything and everything. David who said. " I hate and abhor falsehood, but I love your law." When one loves God as David did, (read psalms) only then should we compare our worship with his. My guess, for many of us, is that it would fall far, far short of acceptable to God. Music or not.

  • It's not about the music folks. The discord comes when people aren't allowed to have an opinion. This is one of my favorite songs because the original is a tender and intimate recognition of who He IS. In this rendition the focus is all over the music. Not Jesus...... In my opinion.

  • @frmdeath2life Do you know Phil Keaggy's story? Look it up, please get to know his heart, as much as one can without knowing him personally, before you make assumptions... What was said about Judging another's servant (He's God's not your's): Romans 14:4- Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

People are too quick to judge people. We are told to judge all things rightly. To tell people about

  • @chassebeth Yours is a very fine example of being non- judgmental. I happen to like a lot of Keaggy's music... but I do not like what he's done to this beautiful 8th century hymn. There, I said it again. Romans 14:4 back at ya. " Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

  • What a bold glorious rendition of Be Thou My Vision. To God be the glory!

    I feel celtic all over.

  • @frmdeath2life It's comments like this that cause discord. People used to think the piano was "too worldly" and now you don't find a church without it. And didn't King David dance and sing without reservation, because he was doing it for God? You don't have to like the version, but it doesn't mean the song was "butchered."
