  • The link is no longer working.

  • For some reason, this kind of music touches my soul. Also, it is really easy to fall asleep to this.

  • why is this just so amazing......i really want to get a rubab.

  • Thanks very much for the link.

  • It just gets more intense, what a journey'. He's feeling it'.

  • legend of the Rubab Ustad Umar. and i think playing Raag Behag.

  • I think I'm gonna buy a Rubab and modify it so that I can plug it to an amplifier!

  • Lol naturally this rabab is already amplified. But that would be awesome to have one of those built in amplifiers like for acoustic guitars. :P

  • thatd be tight, post some vids of what it sounds like!

  • Great classical music from Afghanistan

     Ustad Mohammad Omar R.I.P

  • HAHAHAHAH BAYAG!

  • The best rabab player of all times!

  • americans=morons dominated by TV...

  • thats better than closed minded people dominated by religion in my book

  • bummer for you man, I hear beautiful music.

  • heh you know you didn't have to insult me.

I actually liked his music, and I downloaded his album/live show. It's cool but I couldn't help but notice some of the cowboy western hillbilly banjo style, and that circusy melody. I thought he just did that to gain western appeal. Perhaps I know nothing of his stylistic origins. I'm just sayin that's kinda what it sounds like.

  • Please tell me you are joking!

"I thought he just did that to gain western appeal."

You have SO MUCH to learn.

  • yeah i see what you are getting at. it turns out afghan classical/folk has some similarities to bluegrass in its feel sometimes, so that might be what you're seeing. this shit is old school though, i assure you he's not doing things for western appeal.

  • We have a saying: "Ba Khar Yasin Khondan". It is natural that you don't understand his music.

  • my friends why do you fight to decide the best rabab player. Shouldn't the sound of the rabab decide it and not anyone's mouth.

  • You don't have to listen to me..It's my opinion.

It's not the sound of the rabab that decides. It's the musician's hands and thoughts that decides it.

  • I've met Homayun Sakhi, he's a nice guy. But when I played for him a little I think he got jealous of me and started playing professionally in front of me. I didn't even notice until I watched the video I recorded him with me again.

I still believe Ustad Mohammed Omar is one of the greatest and STILL is the best rabab player ever! I learned how to play rabab by listening to his cd with him and Ustad Zakir Hussain. You must listen to that cd it's wonderful..

  • rock on lol

  • gooooooooooooooooooood

  • woderfull i'm verey happy to have somting from Ustad Mohammad Omar

  • Ustad Muhammad Omer a great rabab player of his time,Afghan rabab zindabad.

  • OOH U GOTTA BE KIDDING ME , UR such a stupid dude...

Ustad Omar is the father of Rabob....homayoun cant even reach his feet dust!!!!!! trust me on that. .and im shocked coz ur the first person claimin homayon's victory over Ustad omar's ....

    DIE

  • I will die when ALLAH SWT decides my case so you dont have to tell me that because you dont have any autority over HIS affairs, and regards to OMAR being the father of RABAB, I didnt say anything against it. You put Omar's Rabab here and we will compare them both. If your father is a doctor, even if you become a better doctor than him, you will still be his son, no matter what. So I hope you understand where I am coming from.

  • search Herat Rebab you 'll find also very nice Rebab videos!!!

  • Sad that he passed away..his music will always live on. Afghanistan is such a beautiful country with its people. I am even an Afghan myself. Kabul tashakur.

  • One of my favorites!

  • To find this on YouTube was an enormous and beautiful surprise. Ustad Mohammed omar was the best, no one else has ever managed this quality of tone in rabab playing. If there are any other such videos please post them, they're invaluable!

  • actually recording good audio placement of mic is much important. here mic is much far from musician. his performance is excellent. robab is famous for its loud tune.

  • Sarod's older relative. I last heard live in Quetta 1968. Shukria.

  • good song but I admintingly I view the dambura as the better instrument..

  • shapur every person have different taste and this taste is God giffted. i like Sarenda(sorry i dont know english name). but my brother like benjo. have you seen this instrument. Tambura is the popular music instrument of Rawalpindi division.

  • Wonderful sounds, music, instrument, man. Thank you for sharing. It left my feeling warm, relaxed and dreamy...

  • i get high when i listen to rabob.i will buy myself one.

  • The rabob is indeed an inspirational wonderful instrument. It takes a mind atone to a higher level of musical understanding to comprehend the nature of such beautiful sounds and music. In say this, I’d like to add “Long Live the Nation of Afghanistan and its people”

  • Baaba Omar Kard mara dewanay Robab wala,, Ma mayghom zindabad baad ba aawn kasay kay ustaadet boot. Omar is the innovator Soul.
