  • That would drive Microsoft Word mad!

  • i read a lot of the tales un middle english with thwe same kind of beat, it's strange how a guy who wrote hundreds of years befor rap was popular. i know it'a hared to understand, but in modern english it looses the great sound, sso it's wortyh the effort.

  • 23 people were cuckolded by the wyf of bath

  • I'm going to end up rapping this for my English class.

  • why is this not on i tunes?

  • Starts at 00:18

  • satrts at 18 secs

  • what english teachers do for fun..

  • Lol my English teacher has us watch this video like every day. Friday he played Gem Sweater... Ya it was funny... I laughed.. A lot. :p

  • That person that walked by the upper right corner at 1:04... I wonder what they were thinking?

  • Sounds like some beastie boys shit.

  • Nice

  • I'm embarrassed by how attracted I find you right now.

  • @1anekram i think you missed the point. academics are not "retarded". if anything, this just shows you how middle english can actually be really fun.

  • Yeee-aaa! Kickin' it old school. (Real old school.)

  • This is hilarious...........Even Chaucer would have split himself.

The real enjoyment of a pilgrimage along the North Downs was the singing & storytelling along the route

  • Making people memorize prose in dead languages is a foolish waste of time. Try actually being a talented instructor instead of assigning busy-work that benefits nobody.

Lets teach our children to be pretentious twats

  • @GordanCable It's not prose...it's verse...

  • @GordanCable English is a dead language?

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for helping me memorize the first 18 lines X)

  • I have to do that prologue now !! LoL

  • lol i have to memorise this for English 4

  • This. Is. Hilariously. Awesome.

  • i like this but a problem i have with rap is that the only tone that's used is aggression.I know there's no end of things to be angry about but doesn't it seriously limit its usefulness.

I think Grandmaster Flash is brilliant but the aggression is used to help to say what he needs to tell us- like in "The Message"

I think that the version by the two girls catches the right sort of emotion but real rappers probably reject it.

  • we gotta recite this too in front of everyone........ how embarassing ohmygod

i should show this to my teacher it's pretty funny

  • We have to recite this and our teacher is making us watch it >_<

  • Rapping in any dead/half-dead language is cool. I tried rapping an excerpt of Ovid's Metamorphoses in Latin and it was awesome. "TALIA TUM PLACIDO, SATURNIUS EDIDIT ORE:/DICITE JUSTE SENEX ET FEMINA CONIUGE IUSTE/DIGNA, QUID OPTETIS..."

  • i laughed so hard xD

  • LOL, i had to memorize this in 12th grade! I just remember the first two lines.

  • zero stars

  • I want to get the canterbury tales audio book,

    any recommendations?

  • are you serious?

  • Oh my lordly lordly lordly lord. Someone has rapped (spelling is very important) the Chaucer classic.

    You made my day!

  • What exactly do you mean?

Do you not like Middle/Old English?

Or do you critique the cinematography, or the outfits and so forth?

    Please explain.

I personally find this video quite entertaining. I like the Beastie Boys-style rap trade-offs and camara angles a-la "so what'cha want," and the rhythm and enunciation seem tight to me.

I really am curious what this comment means (of course I can guess, I just think that a good criticism will explain itself).

  • i want to get the canterbury tales audio book,

    any recommendations?

  • lol this is BRILLIANT

  • This is hilarious! It had me in stitches!

  • nice parody, worst fucking tale I ever heard. but a great song none the less.

  • agreed.

  • If this "worst fucking tale" would not existed, you would not speak the language you do.

Well, the fact that you liked the "song" explains a lot...

  • A language to exist and evolve, needs to be written down. This book contains the roots of english, as "Cantigas de Santa Maria" by King Alfonso The Wise did for spanish, or Dante with hes "Divine Comedy" to italian. But were pulished centuries later by Shakespeare, Cervantes, Maquiavelo or Petrarca, respectively, to finally be as we know and sepeak them nowadays. Sorry if I upset you, ancient literature it's my speciality; I'm sure you'll understand.

    Greetings from Mexico!

  • That wasn't me being unsettled, that was me asking a series of questions. But I still don't believe you.

  • Don't believe me, read a book! I did not invented this, is in the books they push you to read at school.

    I had enough.

    Bye!
