The theme is there. You just have to hear it very closely. Izumi made DD7 a bit jugglish in terms of its time signature in GF/DM, and this original version is plainly in 4/4 most of the time.

Wow, neat, it really did! Cool how some of his songs on GF/DM are remixes of songs of music he made for other Konami games.
