  • One of The Beatles' most stunning recordings...given an interesting revamp here...but isn't there a slightly longer version by Dax than what's presented here?? I coulda' sworn I heard one years ago...

  • From the avant garde of the Lemon Kittens to her psychedelised solo efforts, she is always a great artist!

  • "...'we' should disappear..."? Lets start with her. She should jump off a cliff if she means it. Haven't heard much about her in a while, maybe she did.

  • whatever happened to her?

  • SHE SUCKS BEATLES RULE!!!!!!

  • Its like watching patsie stone from absolutely fabulous dance drunkenly around to a poorly made track. She even dances like her. The only redeeming quality is the voice.

  • @AlexanderMccarthey87 Just your opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. Mine is that she looks great, sounds great, but to each her/his own.

  • Come across this by lucky accident , what a great version of a classic song. Great voice

  • I know three versions of this song. This, the Beatles (of course) and 801 (an Eno band from the 70's). I love all three.

  • @sex6cult9revolution: You should check out Sheila Chandra/Monsoon's version. Awesome cover!

  • @sex6cult9revolution Phil Collins also recorded it for his album "Face Value" and The Chemical Brothers nicked it for their 1996 No.1 hit "Setting Sun".

  • this sucks!!!

  • No one beats the Beatles of course.. but this is a very good cover of a very remarkable song... very impressive

  • Vastly underrated artist. Her music is Art :)

  • this songs is very awesome, all covers i know are very nice!

  • Agree with Danielle - what we really need is a good nuking. Take out, oh, say, approx 4 billion of us. Max. Survivors wouldn't shit right for months, plus they'd have to cooperate for best results.

  • @pvtpstr - NO NUKE! Would scar nature, too....perhaps a good, healthy plague, though...

  • I Dont know who this lady is but she raped this song ):

  • I prefer The Beatles music..

  • Gorgeous song.

  • One of the most underrated and original artists ever....can't say this is exactly representative of her work, but it's a grand version!

  • @Gyphia Only thing is that it was not Pete Waterman who produced it, but Stephen Street. Blame him. I think it's pretty good, actually.

  • Perhaps she should consider that as beings capable of rational thought, the real challenge is to BE intelligent, rational human beings who won't destroy everything else? Nice cover, though.

  • what a horrible rendition, her delivery is terrible, she totally misinterprets the lyrics.

  • @marcreevesmusic Very amusing, coming from a teen fag who's destined to play in pubs forever, while attempting to sell your shitty CD.

Fancy yourself an entertainer? Guess again, little butt monkey.

  • @castletriglav what, so I'm not allowed to dislike something without being insulted? Whatever, I am an entertainer, I'm doing very well right now and earning money.

Funny how you call me a 'teen fag' when you're the one acting like one. Grow up.

  • enjoyed thanx

  • The Beatles completely ruined this song.

  • @SubconsciousGatherer lololololol

  • @SubconsciousGatherer You're kidding, right? ;-)

  • of the beginning...Of the beginning:) Reminds me of the beginning of the Craft. Also another good cover by...Our Lady Peace was it? This cover rocks too. So favoriting.

  • This is one of the most underrated and best covers of any song, from any artist out there. Love it!

  • Excellent cover and sexy. IMHOP John would like it.

    R.I.P.

  • @rcmayo

Whoa, you scared me there for a second. I thought Danielle Dax had died, too... Luckily she's alive and hopefully well!

  • MTV used to play this on 120 minutes in its day. Great memories.

  • Good cover but the Beatles original still holds it's own.

  • Can Some please put up her vid from Big Bayou,16 Candles,....From Blast of the Human Flower CD...Please!!!!!!!

  • Great cover, another by the group Our Lady Pace

  • Comment removed

  • Well anyway, she's definitly a super hero!

  • Wow she's kind of reminding me of Catwoman in this one!

  • It'll take a while to get used to this kind music, but sounds great

  • Sorry, draedwillows, you're just not old enough to have an opinion on The Beatles or Danielle Dax.

  • I always think it's cool in itself when someone covers this song.

    =)

  • You would, though

  • it shits all over phil collins cover of this tune

  • Wow, I didn't even know Phil Collins covered this track. Gonna look for it now...

  • I always loved Danielle Dax - especially this song. Thanks for posting!

  • Very Madchester, especially the keyboard riff. It's lifted from Happy Mondays' "Step On".

  • nice cover, but I prefer The Mission`s version

  • Eccelente!

Every late-80s visual, musical, instrumental and production cliche in a cover of a proper song :-)

It sounds like 99% of the crap Radio 1 played then, but it hasn't aged, it's as much a piss-take of the time as a tribute to an earlier time.

  • I still love this version, this was the song that turned me onto Danielle and she's still as beautiful today. Alas she is not able to record much anymore due to ill health.

  • She is so gorgeous and talented. Too bad she never got the critical or commercial succes she deserved. I've also heard that she is not in good health these days. For shame.

  • Judging by the video and what she says at the begging I think she really understood what the song is about.

Is my favorite Beatles song ever. Nice cover.

  • This and Candyflips version of Strawberry fields Forever, are 2 of my favorite Beatle covers EVER!!

  • George Harrison...Right?

  • John Lennon

  • I remember this when it came out and I still like it! The thing is, I don't care for any Beatle cover songs but for some reason this works. No, it's not because she's smokin' hot either!

  • Cool Beatles cover!!! This is one song that can easily stick in your mind all day.

  • AllHail!

  • Danielle Dax is fantastic, thanks for this

  • Sounds like a 909 kick anyway. 80s so it's probably an akai sampler - there may be 505 sounds in there but they'll be samples.

IIRC 505 sounds a lot more analogue. Kinda like those old drum accompaniment modules on old 2 register organs.

Decent cover though - Like it a lot.

    Peace :-)

  • No way on earth is this a TR505. 909 maybe, but I know my 505s intimately, and this isn't one :)

  • Its the 80's sound, kiss904. Really identifiable. The Fisher Price synths, TR 505 drums, washes, and snycopation. You know it when you hear it and people love it. The Beatles on the other hand sound timeless especially in the digital age when you can hear all the subtleties.

You may feel otherwise, but this is the best cover I've heard. She really did something different with it.

  • How is it that this sounds more dated than The Beatle's original?

  • "How is it that this sounds more dated than The Beatle's original? "

Because most Beatles music doesn't sound dated

  • Fuckin rotten.

  • A one-girl version of the B-52s but smarter (than all of them together) Better looking and better moniker too!

  • Props to pointing out that Edie Sedgewick sample from the album version. It's an awesome song and an awesome album.

Of course it didn't hit it big in the US. Good alternative music rarely did. College radio is where my dial stayed back in the day.

  • Maybe the version sucks, but she is d*** hot!

  • Hmm... I'm not that impressed by this version, but not because Danielle did a bad job with it. It's because this isn't the album edit, which was much better. Check out "Blast the human flower" to hear how this cover is supposed to sound- this video doesn't do it justice!

  • I think this cover version is a loss of nerve on someone's part. Her original compositions are so much better. This is a nice vid though, and I love that clip of her at the beginning. She's a great girl.

  • There's a story that she was presented with a list of 'palatable' covers for the American market. Anyone know for sure?

  • not too shabby I guess. Really reminds me of my bloody valentine/early primal scream though.

  • How is it that this sounds more dated than The Beatle's original?

  • Warner Brothers signed her and threw a bunch of money at her. This 1990 single was supposed to spearhead the big breakthrough which would put her 'Blast The Human Flower' album into the charts and establish DD in the US. No such luck. The result was too toned-down for her old fans and too idiosyncratic to attract new ones. The album mix of this is better (nice Edie Sedgewick vocal sample), but this cover is altogether just too bland. The late-80s production techniques date it terribly.

  • Every once in a while, a cover comes along that makes the original sound like a BAD half-baked cover.

And this is at top of the list. ;) I love every second. So much richer with more texture than the original.

  • Well, I won't bad-mouth an original, especially a Beatles one, you'll never hear the end of it - but yes, this is a great cover. :)

Danielle was definatley ahead of her time, I bet a lot 'bigger' acts stole from her - ever listened to 'Muzzles' and then Kate Bush's 'Rubberband Girl' back-to-back? Tell me that isn't lifted?!!

  • I just listened to Rubberband Girl and its great. I've heard a few other of Kate Bush's more famous songs but never that one. Thanks.

  • Wow, I like it!

  • Haha, I like her commentary in the beginning. Truth. But not as much as I like this songgg.

  • If the Beatles had a synth it probably would have sounded a bit more like Sheila Chandra's version of this song(How I wish there was a video to post on here...) which is much less vacuous than this one...

  • questa è una bestemmia

  • terrible....

  • My favourite Beatles track has been pretty much ruined here buti always appreciate a cover. Anyone who listens to the original try to picture Dance beats used nowadays i.e chemical brothers and see how that song from 1966 kinda invented the original club dance beat. The 1st song to use reversed drumming and then revolutionised the studios we now have in music today. So whilst every other 60's bands singing 'tra la la' The Beatles are making house music!

  • blast the human flower.

  • a beautiful poem

     tyg x

  • RAPED!

  • i didn't realize she was so beautiful.

  • I agree with you joeljack1 - Danielle is gorgeous! She also looked stunning in 'The Company Of Wolves' (she played a wolf-girl). I saw Danielle in Toronto in the early 90s (she opened for The Sisters Of Mercy).

I've never heard The Beatles original song and have no desire to check it out. I'm sure Danielle's version is superior, anyway.

  • I think Danielle did this better than even the Beatles knew how. She emphasized and harnessed the obvious psychedelic nature that was just begging to be emphasized. This song was made for the synthesizer. More than the Beatles could do.

  • BOLLOX

  • If the Beatles had ever used a synthesizer, would they have just wasted it, or made a song that sounds exactly like this one?

  • Il suono degli effetti speciali in "Tomorrow never knows" era ottenuto modificando la velocità del nastro (tape) - come in molta musica elettronica di quel periodo. Hi! Filippo Testa (Torino, Italy)

  • The Beatles version is better. I have the impression the record co had her record this to make the album more "commercial" (something read in an interview). Her own stuff is better than this cover (fave track: Evil Honky Stomp). And she looks quite fetching here, though I'd say she's sexier in "Cathouse." Still love to watch it though...

  • the beatles version iss waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better

  • Ms. Dax is WAY hotter than Stacy Q. Way. Also: more talented, in general.

  • Who remembers Stacey Q? Who's hotter?

  • GIVE IN TO THE VOID

  • One of fav videos , when vidoes were fun to watch on MTV

  • terrible and extremely cheesey.

  • Danielle Dax and Nina Hagen...wow,

  • How come inever heard of her b4 today...i'm annoyed at that..Excellent!

  • I think we should disappear quick...happy!!!!

  • civ 1

    fucking relax

  • This is a cool version of one of our Fav Beatles toons. My husband thinks its entrancing and psychedelic. Great work

  • Beautiful.

  • Remove ourselves. Fuck this bang in the mean time.

  • dax is NOT right - if shes right, then why dont you go grab a gun and off yourself right now? - how about your whole family and loved ones?-

NO? why not? dont you want to help the planet? dont you want make a difference?

  • Voluntary human extinction is not about killing yourself, it's about not reproducing.

Disappearing in evolutionary terms doesn't mean in the next decade or even century, and happy does not imply any killing to be done.

  • sigh,...everyone wants to go to heaven, but not everybody wants to pay the price to get there.

  • whatever ...

  • AWESOME song -- i loved this back in the day

dont know about that comment - go watch 'END GAME' by alex jones --

dont worry theres a tiny elite of psychos on this plaent who want to kill us anyways- nice eh?

  • She was in Copenhagen a couple of months ago with Karl Blake. Had a good chat with him, didn't get time to talk to Danielle, unfortunately.

  • Dax is right. Dinosaurs were here for 165 million years & humans have been here for 200,000 to 400,000 years(depending on who you ask)& look how fucked up the planet is... another 500 years & our short time here will be over & then its on to the next species.

  • Stupid doomed species

  • Humans need to be wiped the hell out! HAHA!!! They've done nothing but cause problems for ages now and they don't know what the hell they're doing.. well.. what we're doing I mean.

  • *applauds* :)

  • so, if I get her message she's one of those people that advocate for human extinction? never quite got those dipsticks. this is a massacre of a great tune.....but well...what else could one expect? daft.

  • Who does she think she is having an opinion?......she's only a woman!.....

  • She should learn how to dance.

  • shes a MUSICIAN/SONGWRITER. shes not a dancer..and she never said she was...get ur head out ur arse.

  • If she's not a dancer then she shouldn't try to dance you

    mental midget!

  • there goes clubbing it for the vast majority then..u cant go chill out to muzik unless u been to dance school.. fecking idiot

  • cool. i havent seen this in ages

  • good to hear danielle dax again

  • James Bond girl gets trippy! Loves it!

  • Really "crafty" huh? ;)

  • you geniuses do realize this came out in like 1990...?

  • Wow! What a load of crap!

  • As a Beatles fan, I'm not wild about the idea of this, but damn if it's not extremely trippy and fun.

  • What a travesty, destroying one of the most innovative, thrilling songs ever made.

  • i thought this is pretty and trance like ( not 'trance 'genre , of course ) but ... relaxing ..

  • This is freakin' awesome!

  • The original is MUCH MUCH BETTER. this version sucks!!!

  • if i was tripping i know which version id rather hear, and its not the beatles

  • aj original is much better

  • wow, beautiful

  • En lo particular a mi sí me agrada el cover de ella, tiene ritmo, aunque la verdad no la hacia en éste mundo, hasta hoy supe que existe.

  • What the fuck is this?

When will these silly artists realize that just liking the Beatles is not a good enough reason to make a mess of their best songs.

  • adios my friend we don't need your negativity ruining the message of the song.peace

  • Hahahahaha, and what message is that?

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE Danielle...She is a goddess!!! Thank you for posting this....I am a happy man!!!!

  • pues.... esa canción de los beatles es de lo mejor... pero el cover está medio pinchesón. Como sea, se agradece siempre!

  • It's not suppose to sound like The friggin' Beatles, douchebag.

  • It's not suppose to sound like The figgin' Beatles, douchebag.

  • This is the only cover of TNK I ever really liked.

  • Yes not a bad cover (surprised). Los Lobos did an amazing cover though rather different from the original.

  • love the song love the video, thankx!!

  • Her Stuff with The Lemon Kittens is so much cooler than this.

  • this sucks when compaired to the beatles

  • Hate it when you can peg a sound to an era. Late 80s/early 90s? Too popgummy house.

  • This track really is not representative of Danielle Dax's body of work or even "Blast the Human Flower", the CD this song appeared on. She was mainly Indie Rock with Punk/Political/Celtic Witch slants. She was way more complex than this video and song represents her as. Plus she's kinda scary, but in a good way :)

  • I really don't like this version of the song... Nothing is better than the original.

  • Much better than Phil Collins cover. Of course the Beatles version is the best. I like the misanthropic comment at the start of this video. It's so true. We are like a cancer upon the planet. The visuals rock.

  • Agreed that this is better than the lame Phil Collins cover at the end of an otherwise fine album, Face Value.

But as for the crass comment about how we should all dissappear: if you think we are such a cancer, why don't you go kill yourself? I'm not saying you should, just that your words are fucking cheap, and you probably buy into the whole man-made global warming/the west is evil bullshit too. Never mind.

  • I do buy into the global warming thing (you will too). And evolution. And the scientific method.

I won't kill myself because i'm better than you. My greenhouse gas footprint is tiny. Recycle or die. Vegan Reich yo.

As for the west, I think China is a bigger threat that we are.

  • *huggles* :>

  • Phil Collins? fine Album, Face Value? crass comment? why don't you kill yourself? fucking cheap? the whole man-made global warming/west is bullshit?"

Have you heard yourself? You really went all-out to earn that name numbskullandy. But once more in your own words "Never mind".

  • I love that one... It's way better than this...

  • Some may not have liked this cover of TNK, but I think it's the best and certainly most original take on it around (way better than Phil Collins' 1981 version).

  • This music is fun but I think Dax would have liked people to make it number one. Why do so many brit girls voluntarily go into obscurity after becoming famous? What these brits need is the good old Barnum and bailey marketing mindset. Man, the illuminati really must have a pythons grip on England judging by this video. weird! :)

  • A beautiful women. Did she just say the white race should die for the sake of world? She must of had a biochip implanted in her brain by Henry Kissinger. lol I'd like to know who she had sex with, who she's having sex with, is she married and if she has kids.

  • She's damn fine!

  • Blast the Human Flower indeed.

  • Wow. Never seen this B4. Excellent.

    Vaguely aware of DD.

    Check out 801/Manzanera/ENO version. Cool

  • Hrmmm, the music isn't my cup of tea anymore. But yeah, quite the babe, I saw her open for Sisters of Mercy, she was very hot in some skin tight pants.

  • What a crushing loss to retire from music - she has always been one of my favourite artists, incredibly talented and unique. You are sorely missed, Dax.

  • Why are there some people who just don't get it? Not only is Danielle's version of Tomorrow Never Knows a brilliant remake in general, but it is also a beautiful song by a beautiful woman. Blast The Human Flower is a great album and Danielle should be proud of it. Screw all of the detractors!

  • *hugz*

  • Wow. As my son would say - "What a babe." Speaking of my son, he tried to convince me that Christina Aguillera is the sexiest singer ever so I showed him some of DD's videos here on youtube and he now agrees with me that nobody was sexier than Danielle Dax.

  • it sucks

  • It might seem kinda lame and cliche now, but you have to consider it in the context of when it was released. It was a pretty good sound and idea for 1990.
