  • Bike commuting is real, I do it 2 or 3 times a week and I have a 26 mile round trip. Back when I had a 6 mile round trip I rode to work every day of the week, and took the car only once a month or so.

  • gosh, if i loss 13 lbs I'll dissolve.

Being sweaty at work is another of the compliances

  • Yep,

If we just converted a fraction of the auto infrastructure to bike, our society would be far far better. Put up those concrete barriers and trees for shade and we wont be such fat ass Americans in oversized SUV's.

I don't ride as much with my kids because I don't want them killed by some jack ass in a Regal with 20 inch rims.

    Bikes for a better life

  • 90% of statistics are made up

  • @BlueHen123 And 100% of your comments are bullshit.

  • he's My Hero!

  • cool video. I too live in DFW - in Richardson. My bike commute is 7.5 miles each way, and I'm lucky enough to have some good bike lanes and bike trails that get me about 60% of the way there.

It is hot in the summer. I have come to just accept that I will sweat. I give myself enough time to cool down and clean up a bit when i get to work. On days when I have meetings elsewhere, I drive. But typically I bike 2 or 3 times a week.

  • Huge fan of Ryan - try to catch him at the Sea Otter Classic. I also commute to work, and my junior high students love it. Ryan is such a positive, super-cool person. Being the master of trials doesn't hurt, either.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing.

Can you cite the sources of the stats posted in the captions?

  • Nice and so true. More people need to just ride. Should be common sense

  • Now you say that it should be common sense. But in places like Texas where I live, the traffic isn't all that cycle friendly, and it can be hard to find a good route under 5 miles. And also you have to take into account that the weather in a lot of places is pretty hot. Which would mean if you want to look half way decent when you arrive, then you would have to leave a lot earlier to cool down and dry off.

  • We can all make excuses to Not commute, Living in the DFW area I find these to be just more excuses. I and several of my friends commute all over the DFW area year around. You have to decide to do it, and then just start. Do the small trips 2st then build up. It's is easier than most think, and a lot more rewarding than we can put to pwrds.

  • Those aren't excuses. I'm just trying to say, it's not for everybody. So you can't really say it should be common sense. I personally love commuting on a bicycle! A friend of mine got me into it, and now we go on lots of charity rides and races together too. But it's a hobby, and I really don't think it's right to push it onto the people who aren't interested, or say people don't have common sense if a bicycle isn't a practical way of getting around for them.

  • here, a little outside of Graz AT, we have a company which provides guarded parking space for bikes and showers and lockers for their employees to change and be fresh and dry, when they get into the office. imo that's a number 1 example of how easy it could be to support a healthy lifestyle
