  • hey man great playing... I consider o f buying a 5150 II... I am a bedroom player... What do you think ? Is it ok for haouse...??? Is it play well in low voloume ?

  • @aris17561 well, it sounds perfectly also at bedroom volume. anyway i'm selling an evh 5150III. It is a beast too...and it has also a very good clean channel. If you could be intersted just tell me! :-)

  • @vaffanculo8555 where do you live man ? I live in Greece...

  • @aris17561 im from italy. i've shipped a guitar and a cabinet in greece :-) i usually sell abroad, so i would'nt have problem to ship the 5150III to you! it will cost less for me because i work with express couriers.

  • @vaffanculo8555 ok so how much it is ?

  • @aris17561 i was thinking of selling it at 1200 €.the shipping cost would be about 50 €, but i include it in the 1200€. let me know, the amp is in perfect condition, i will post a video of it

  • @vaffanculo8555 ok man i will tell you in a couple of days ... thanks

  • FINNALY someone with the same guitar as me what year is yours? mine is a 74 same color and everything with emg 81 85 i also use peavey but i got the xxx and a mesa recto cab

  • are you playing metallica? or Ozzy, cause whatever it is its freaking awesome!

  • You know these people take time out of their day to entertain you people, and this is how you thank them by giving them terrible comments!?! boy you people with the bad comments need to wake up! Great video, thank you for sharing, and taking time out of your day to entertain us.

  • what does it sound like clean

  • like audidative porn

  • with all that gear at hand you kind of need to practice

  • is it better than the 6505?

    are VHT amplifiers good?

To play music like protest the hero, the human abstract, unearth, sky eats airplane...

  • great sound I am thinking of getting a peavey windsor.

  • If you do prepare for an extremely loud amp, and you'll need some pedals to get heavey distortion.

Look for a used 5150 combo, or get a valveking combo.

  • the windsor sucks a lot

  • why is that?

  • It's a tube amp, and it's only $400 new? Something is up.

  • who cares about the price?

  • people who want to not waste their money on a pile of shit that costs $400. that's who.

Think, if you saved up 300 more dollars, you could get a used 5150 head off ebay.

  • do you have the windsor?

  • dude shuddap

  • @vaffanculo8555 amen brother!

  • Wish I had that head. Apparently a lot of good players use em (ie: Robb Flynn - Machine Head), but you can get them easily anymore...

  • 6505 is the same head, u can find them anywhere. unless u have to have the original 5150, but the 6505+ is better.

  • EBAY! you can get anything there or put a post on harmony central. you can find one there really easy

  • 5150 cabs suckk. heads own though \m/

  • true dat.

  • @snapascrew Thats why you put the 5150 Head with one of the 412 Cabs :P

  • more presence dude ;)

  • I like the tone of the 5150 a lot. Kind of vintage sounding, but it does metal well.

  • does anybody knows how much for the 5150 head?

  • usually you will find it in ebay for about $600 bucks and maybe under if your lucky

  • between 400 and 1000

  • love your guitar!!!

  • this guy plays metallica as slow as they do now rofl. sweet amp i have one. do yourself a favor and put in an adjustable bias and get a marshall 1960A cab or oversized mesa recto cab!!!

  • should also replace the tubes with something a little more colorful and get the head modified to run the tubes hotter, as Peavey's generally run the tubes colder than their optimal performance range is at... so much potential wasted in the crucial stages.... sigh.

  • yo dude those are some fucking crazy riffs!

  • Do you think you could send me your 5150 settings you used? Also is that direct in or are you using effects? Thanks :)

  • god.. 6505+ just owns fucking shit... i love peavey <3 haha :]

I play everything from guns n' roses to def leppard to kreator and even exhumed and my 6505 just fucking screams on all of it :]

  • I'd like to hear something other than Metalcore riffs in all of these 5150 demos.

The only good demo on the 'Tube is the one with horrid tone and a wrong way of playing Pull Me Under...

  • You a hypocrite... just thought I'd let you know.

  • you're wrong, i don't care, fuck off.... just thought i'd let you know.

  • riiiiiiiiiiiiiight...

what a waste of a comment.

    anyway, nice video.

trying to score myself a 5150 series 2.

  • Do you go to counseling?

  • you DO know this amp was designed with van halen right? "faggot" is a funny word.

    douchebag.

  • oh, and that comment was for vaidog56.

  • :D haha, yeah, you ripped words out of my mouth :D metalcore and hardcore can play every kid

  • and you know grammar

  • no shit i own this amp you dumb peice of shit i KNOW what it sounds like

  • Where did you get that guitar? Need answer.

  • Great video. Tried a 6505 yesterday, almost certainly going to be my next amp. How much does the sound improve as you turn the master volume up? (i was pleasantly surprised at how powerful it was at low volumes, can't wait to crank one)

  • Ha! I've had my 5150 to 3.5 and it was utter crushing pain!

  • Hey Alexthomas! I'd say this amp sounds best when you push the power amp post 4-5. It's awfully high, but it's meant to be played that loud ;) I like the settings to be like this: (Lead channel ofc!) Pregain 2-3 Low: 8 Mid: 4 High: 7 Postgain: 5 Resonance: 8 Presence: 8 This amp has soooo much distortion! Pregain level between 2-3 is sufficient if you strive for the 80's metal crunch tone, like Metallica's Master Of Puppets for example.
  • Hey man, you seem like you know what you're talking about. I'm trying to decide between the 5150 or mesa dual rectifier 2 ch head. I like the crunch on the peavey but the clean sounds better on the mesa. what do you think?

  • Sure, mesa's clean sound is much better. But the 5150's lead channel is so hot and brutal, i think it's better than a rectifier (imho). Anyway if you can, try the EVH 5150 III,it has a GREAT clean channel, and the same crunch and lead of the old 5150!It's an awesome head. If you don't find it, try also a 5150 II or 6505 plus. It's great too; it has separated equalizations for rhythm ch. and lead ch. The clean sound is much better (not like a mesa..but absolutely usable).

I hope i helped you man!

  • @vaffanculo8555 what about the 6534+? It's an el34 version of the 5150II/6505+, it has better cleans on it.

  • 5150 Rules...I had the same half stack for years. Wouldn't trade it in for anything.

  • peavey rules....ive got an encore 65 with one 12".....it will make your ears pop......after the 4 setting....no shit

  • beautiful head, get a mesa or marshall cab cuz peavey cabs kinda suck

  • Love that dist!

  • When do u use that amplifier clean,i mean, not pick,u can get better things asshole

  • Jesus Christ, relax Nancy.

  • Why the hell are you using a 5150 for marshall tone??

  • never play that "lead" again...............

  • awesome sound of your amp... and can you send me the tab of your song ?? many thanks !

  • this amp is great for hardcore shit

  • nice ax!

  • Are burny's really crappy, or are they OK?

  • hey man. i was confused to buy an Epiphone or a Burny, now im going for a burny!

  • Yeah burny is much better!

  • marshall r not very good anymores

  • the 5150 is the same 6505.

  • not even close to rue. van halen owns the patents to he circuitry in the 5150 and 5150 2s. Peavey tried their best to COPY the 5150s in the 6505 and +, but they are not the same, they just took is place. 6505 meaning they stared the company in 65, and released it in 06.

  • No he is actually spot on, they are completely identical, except for the name and logo! People that say they sound different is because of tube changes and mods.. stock items are both the same.

  • FJA MODS says they are all the same amp. That guy has those amps ripped open hundreds of times, you'd think he'd see a difference.

  • I've known far more people who got a mail from Peavey saying that the amps are technically identical than that there are differences in the design. When Van Halen was no longer with Peavey, he took the 5150 name with him, not the design of the amp.

  • who cares. there sick amps. but the circuitry is some what different because there is a difference in tone with the 5150's and 6505's.

w.e. there good heads. i want one.

  • "who cares."

A lot of people who commented before me. I was trying to give some useful information on that topic, for their sake. It's obvious that you missed my point.

    "there sick amps"

I know, that's why I got one, and why I don't care about any differences.

"but the circuitry is some what different because there is a difference in tone with the 5150's and 6505's."

A circuitry contains components that can make a lot of difference as well when they're e.g. older, slightly different type,..

  • They sound the same to me. Only difference is that the 6505 has the 3rd crunch channel

  • ur thinking of the new 5150 from EVH. the 6505+ has 2 channels

  • The 6505+ has threee channels. I know since I had one. Clean, crunch and Lead. The clean channel has its own EQ's and. The Crunch and lead share theirs

  • i dont member mine having that option

  • You probably had the 6505. I had the 6505+.. Its the same as the 5150II.. I dont even know why they came out wit hthe 6505's it sounds identical to the 5150 models.

  • they had to change the name of the amp after eddie van halen left the company because he owned the rights to "5150"

  • no i had a 6505+

  • No it doesn't have 3 channels, it has 2 just like the original 5150 but it has a separate EQ for each instead of a shared.

The 5150 III is a 3 channel amp.

  • Yes, right.

So,the 5150 III has 3 channels (clean, crunch, lead). And the 5150, 5150 II, 6505 and 6505+ have TWO channels. The 5150 and 6505 have one equalization sharing RHYTHM AND LEAD ; while the 5150 II and 6505+ two separed equalizations. Here the crunch is activable from the RHYTM channel with a white switch (and the footswitch of the 5150 II/6505+ also has a CRUNCH switch).

    OK? ;)

  • 6505 + and 5150 sounds completly difrent, but they are both very good! I know cause I have both.

    Cheers!

  • EVH only owned the 5150 name. He didn't have patents on the circuits themselves, hell they ripped those off of an SLO anyway.

  • 5150 = 6505 5150II=6505+

Eddie took the name, the circuitry was copied from an SLO and owned by Peavey.

  • its desgined after eddies old plexi

  • no, actually it was based on ed's SLO100.. that's probably why this amp tend to sound heavy rather to brown out like old school ed's

  • ew... horrid marshall tone... get it cranked up to what it was designed for... the tone of EVH...

  • sounds like a marshall? are you kidding me?

  • Marshall's sound like crap compared to the all that is metal 5150

  • i see you havent tried the JVM 410

  • There's nothing metal about an amp with a transistor pre amp circuit. Line 6 makes a nice "metal" amp too. IT's also worth pennies. The JVM sounds like a styrofoam speaker muffled with dogshit with a crossover distortion. Wait... maybe that's what it is!

  • damn it sounds just like a marshall love this amp tone

  • sounds great

  • nice setup, im considering on getting myself a 6505, but im a bit confused about the cabinet.. many people say the peavey cab isn't good, and lots of people use cab with vintage 30s.. but im looking for vh tones i think the matching cab would be better for that vh tones and v30 cab's only good for metal and chugga chuggin.. what d'you think?

  • a peavey cab loaded with sheffields does the f'n trick my friend

I'm using an Ultra Plus half stack

    the sheffield speakers are wonderful...LOUD

  • i hate them...I tryed a valveking head, and i think it's not so good!

  • what do you think about the valveking series?

  • my friend has a 5150...

    it kicks ASS :)

  • what about the marshall JVM410H ?

  • I've not tryed yet, but i'll do! Anyway now i'm using a Framus 2x12 cab, with two celestion Vintage 30. Very nice!

  • i was looking into a lot of 212s with vintage 30s and obviously u like this one, but i was wondering if you heard any other cabs that are better, with the v30s. b52, mesa os something.

  • It's hard to hear how the amp really sounds when you're recording with a camera but the tone is nice! Have you tried a Mesa Boogie cab with your head? Some people says that a peavey 5150 head and a mesa cab is one of the best ways to go if you likes heavy metal.

    Cheers

  • Hi man! I suggest you some ENGL, of MARSHALL heads. I like a lot the marshall JCM 800, but you'll need a boost for the gain! Anyway if you can, try also the 5150, it's really nice! You can play death metal, metalcore, heavy metal, hard rock, and many vintage sounds!

  • you have played a little of crazy train :)

man im going to buy a new amp...what do you suggest? I play mostly iron maiden

  • If you're a Iron Maiden freak you should not buy this amp. The cleans is really bad by the way.. This amp is very good if you wants to play heavy stuff with much distortion but if you're playing Iron Maiden, I think that Marshall is a nice amp for you!

It's just my oppinion but try some Marshalls and you'll maybe find your love ;)

    Good Luck / Ricky

  • Yeah don't get the 5150 for cleans haha

My Peavey Bandit does very well for Iron Maiden songs, maybe I'll post a video as an exmaple.

  • got money? fucking yuppies.

  • Yuppie?! Do you know what a "Yuppie" is?!? "Yuppie" is Shortened from "Young-Urban Professional" & him having a Peavey 5150 Half-Stack & a Burny LP Copy doesn't make him like a Spoiled Rich Kid or anything...It takes DECADES to build-up a Stage Rig that you're completely comfortable with. You Just need to learn to play so you're not trying to blame other peole's financial situations for why you can't get your big break.

  • ss66gns you're a fucking idiot and obviously a looser. Now you have just announced to the world what a looser you really are.

  • lol , yuppies are sensitive.

  • hmmm...that riff is mine, i was just improvising : P

  • What is that first riff? I recognize it but can't remember.

  • sounds like a lamb of god riff, but in in E standard....kinda.

actually, it sounds like a hardcore band i used to be in called idols die young...though that band was in drop C.

I have a signature style 5150, one of the good ones, that ive had for years....love it.

  • ciao ma l'hai modificata la testata??

  • Burnys are easily the best Les Paul copies and the craftsmanship is as good, if not better than Gibson.

  • oh che bel nickname...lol bella burny! Rock'n'roll!!!

  • i have two VH1 pickups, they were already on the guitar

  • Great sound! What pickup you have in you lp?

  • Burny rulez!!!!!!!
