@bongborin : In my opinion (allthough I'm not Ponudium) a DSLR is worth it's money especially when you know how to handle it in the manual mode.

There is nothing wrong with using the half-automated modes like Tv and Av, but try to understand how a camera builds up a picture.

I must say, these pictures are nice, allthough I consider some because of the HDR as a form of cheating, because it's creating a picture the camera could have never picked up on it's own, so don't be fooled by those pics.

Well, OK, the information was still there in the negative, he just knew how to expose the film properly and then tease out the details in the darkroom.

Oh, wait. That's what HDR does, too, just using multiple exposures.

It's art, man. How the artist gets there is his business.

(for the record: I think HDR is way overused, but Ponudium uses it pretty well. Artistically.)

hello, the pictures are great ! I got a canon eos 450d as well. I've got pictures that I made on youtube(made with the same camera). but when I compare them with your pictures I see that your pictures are muth sharper. Do you know why? did you make your pictures sharper with your computer?

@zjackyvanbebber yes, many of my pictures needs some sharpening in photoshop. :)

@zjackyvanbebber It might be the lens too... I tried using different ones like Tamron 17-50 f2.8, Sigma's 17-50 f2.8 and the Canon 17-85... So far my choice is the Sigma because it is more sharper... So far the only thing I do when editing just adjusting the White Balance...

@meler80 long shutter time, 10 seconds or more to get this effect. be sure to take the picture at night, or when its a bit dark. or you can use a filter.

@ijust1agame some are edited, some are not. The picture you mentioned is actually Hdr, you can clearly see it cause of the "ghosting" on the people on the left.

i took 3 pictures, and of course they moved during the shoots.. :P

you can buy for example an 18-200 lens. then you get wide angle and zoom in the same lens. if not you have to decide what you want to take photos of. if you are into landscape, architecture, etc. buy a wideangle lens. if you like taking photos of people, animals, birds ets. buy a zoom lens :)

i would reccomend buying a zoom lens if you dont have one. :) i have the 50mm 1.8 II lens, its so sharp and a great lens for portraits. real good for the price.

but i have a question that confuses me.. i want to get my first DSLR and i want to be sure i pick up the best.

So far i have thos options. Canon EOS 450D with EF 18-55mm IS lenses

and Olympus E520 with 2 lenses

1.EZ-1442 Zuiko Digital 14-42mm

2. EZ-7030 Zuiko Digital ED 70-300mm

hi, ok, here are my thoughts : i cant say this enaugh. there is no camera thats the best. the most important thing is that it fits your hand perfect. try out both cameras. for me 450d was the choice. it fits my hand perfectly, and some of my mates have canon. so we can exchange lenses etc. so try both out. if you get the 2 olympus lenses and the E520 at the same price as 450d. i would go for olympus.. :P

Canon have did an awesome pruduct as always :D But is the 450D better image quality than 1000D? ^^ and how much greater is the 500D? exept that u can Video tape on the 500d:P

the image quality is more up to you, than the camera itself. the difference between those cameras isnt that much. jsut a few things like a couple of more megapixles,the lcd size, fps shooting. i would recommend the 450d. if you want to have movie feature. then go for 500d. but in image quality, i bet you cant see much difference between these camereas, if they have the same lens attached. its all what you do, and how you process your pictures.

yeah, thats not a bad setup. Depends what you are going to photograph. if you¨re into Landscape, maybe get a wide angle lens too. or just take multiple shots with the kit lens, and stich them together. make a nice panorama. :)

hdr = high dynamic range. 3 photos or more, with different exposures. merged together in photoshop, photomatix etc. lenses i used : 18-55 mm is, and 55-250 mm is. these were shoot in jpeg. But check my new video, therse are kind of old. i Always shoot in raw these days. its the best.. :)

yes, in some photos. Sharpening, color tone, etc. and some of the photos are HDR. if you dont know what that is, search it here on youtube. of course i can give you tips, but then i have to know what sort of tips you need :P I've learned alot from other youtube videos. Just search on youtube, or google for tips and tutorials. :)
