Yea, it usually happens when your immune system is low or fighting off another virus like a cold. Since herpes is in your system your body is always fighting it. You were probaly born with that type of herpes and it's just now appearing on your mouth. As long as it's just cold sores you should be fine. Keep some lip ointment and take vitamine C to help.

It's probably herpes simplex one. It's much more common to have simplex one in the mouth than on your downstairs but you can have simplex one on your downstairs just like you can have simplex two in your mouth even though it is more prevalent on the downstairs. Just a little FYI for you bro.

There's 2 kinds of Herpes, HSV-1 ad HSV-2. HSV-1 is most likely what you got, and it's pretty much just cold sores like you got. HSV-2 is the STD form of herpes that creates all the nasty nasty.
