I continually find this movie and it's music to be a "well" to which I can always return... an oasis of "listening" and intimacy.....outside, a world goes mad in war and obsession....
For those saying "this is not Paris, TX! blah blah" lol... no it's not, rather the Big Bend National Park, which is 650 miles from Paris, Texas. In the opening scene the main character crosses the desert and passes out in a gas station in Terlingua, TX (a ghost town located in Big Bend National). Paris, TX is only used as a reference to a piece of land the main character owns there. He never goes there actually, so no scene were shot there

Its greeny more then deserty because the town is in the east then the west. I'm going to watch at this movie because the story plot sounds good. I hope its swell!
Sorry - that is NOT a regular guitar. That is a steel guitar and there is a big difference. I believe Ry Cooder - one of the great US guitarists of our time - is using a National Steel on this piece.
He's playing a regular guitar. But the style used is called 'slide guitar', which is when you use a bottleneck-like cover around your finger(s) to slide over the guitar strings. He's quite perfected it, really :-).

@wenyanjoan Steel strung acoustic guitar, using a finger slide to achieve those smooth slides - that avoid fret buzz.
