I've never played d&d in my life. But I'm an avid gamer. Every time a collect an experience point, use a stat boosting piece of armor or potion, I have the influence of Gary Gygax to thank. Without him, there would be no Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy or Deus Ex, so I owe him my thanks. Rest in peace, dungeon master.
I remember where I was when news broke that he had passed. I no longer played but I was moved to tears over it due to fold, old memories. When I went to get a drink from the soda machine, instead of the 7-UP I chose, out fell a can of Mountain Dew (note that the machine did NOT have a Mountain Dew choice so I didn't mis-select). I took it as a sign and despite not liking mountain dew, I drank a toast to the man responsible for giving me some of my oldest and dearest friends.
I can't even imagine how many things in today's world of gaming wouldn't exist without him. If someone truly deserves the title dungeon master, it's him.
So... not to be a jerk, but are these people that "knew" Gary, or just people that ended up working for WOTC and therefore became involved with D&D... So felt they had grounds to expound on his life/impact? Sort of self-gratifying BS, isn't this? It's like a bad episode of "the office," only dealing with Dungeons & Dragons.
Are there any interviews or other vid work on the actual creation of D&D? Where did the concept come from? What I want to learn is the conception and development of this product.

Let's all roll play that our beloved Gary-poo is not at ground temp right now......Naaa, I like the reality of this one way too much to be pretending that crap! Fare -f..king- well oh giant one!
What would this world be like without Mr. Gygax and D&D?? I never stopped to ponder that thought until this video. It actually made me shudder to think what this world and my life would be missing, namely one of the most indescribable joys in life.
Nice post! Gary Gygax has a place in the hall of fame of Roleplayers. I found a tribute Site for devolopers and gamers alike. GygaxGamers C0M , sign up and show your support. Thanks Gary, your legend will live on.
I wouldn't have met my closest friends if it wasn't for Gary Gygax.
The long hours around that old reliable wooden table with all those marker, pen and pencil markings scattered all over it in moments of bedlam from a deadly random encounter.
Plus all the dents engraved from all those good and bad dice rolls. The mark of a good table, good friends and good times brought about by the imagination of one great man.
How much you wanna bet Gygax is up there asking "are you wure you want to do that, Jesus?"
Gygax, we miss you man. Your legacy is and will live on forever. I'll see to it that I never stop playing/building my world(s)!

Gary Gygax now resides in the Astral Sea, brought to his new dominion by a host of angels in the service of Corellon, god of art and inspiration.
