Thats a great idea for the gas expansion, stupid question whats a practical size of a hole that can be cut with a thermic lance in an average amt of time. B/w the exhaust hole and the water the temp really wouldnt be so crazy.
Worked for Mosler Safe for 21 years installing Vault doors all over the country. If you want to do this kind of cutting, make sure you drill two holes in the top, caulk the edges around the door, and fill with water. This way you don't burn anything up inside. The walls of this sale are cold steel. and can be drilled. The best way would be to locate the fence on the combo, drill the fence lever from the BACK of the safe, then open. Two holes in the top??? One for water, two for gas expansion.
Is he almost in the safe or not? I cannot tell how deep he cut. What gauge was the metal being cut? If there is heat-resistant material sandwiched between two steel plates, does that help resist the plasma cutter? If not, why would anyone buy a multi-thousand dollar home safe.
And that is why I store 80 pounds of exposed gunpowder inside my safe, right along side my valuables... You will not survive the explosion!!!
