@easytosing , no you don't HAVE TO cut your hair, but transitioning can be hard if you leave the relaxed/permed hair on as you go natural. Relaxed hair can split and become more damaged, and dealing with two totally different textures can be a challenge for styles. There are many videos out there that shows how to transition WITHOUT cutting the perm/relaxer. I cut mine off because I didn't want the hassle or the temptation to change my mind and relax. It's almost one year and I'm very happy.

my mom says my natural hair looks bushy and not straight.. which i thought was kind of a given but my dad says he's ashamed of my hair.. so i guess i'm getting a perm on saturday after 9 months of transitioning.................................. =/
@nessawithsmiles don't do it!! You should do what makes you feel good on the inside. That's alot of work you put in. You just going to let 9 months slip away like that. But I know what you mean. My parents object to my natural hair and my mother is a hair stylist! But I never let their opinion get the best of me. I think you should stand your ground. :)

Omg, you have a lot more motivation and courage than I do, Ive never transitioned and am still undecided about doing it or not because my hair is almost touching my breasts so I dont want to cut my hair... But strive on and hope your hair regimen is over succeeded!
Be encouraged! It's hard to venture into the unfamiliar, especially when it comes to our hair! But, if you do make that decision,(and do make it for YOU not anyone else) I can guarantee you three things: You will have a new sense of self, you will fall in love with your natural texture (almost everyone does!) and find a boldness in yourself that you might not have felt before you transitioned. Going natural, in my experience, gave me confidence! 15 mos. natural and loving it! :) Hope I helped!

beautiful hair! your coils look very similar to mine but my hair is much shorter bc i just bc'd 11/29. i have a ton of beautiful coils and wanted to know how you cared for your hair. not so much the products altho that is helpful as well. i want to know how to wash my twa bec i end up with frizzy hair on the surface and coils packed underneath and floating to the surface. ill have to post a vid so you can see but i wanted to know your regimen for washing, combing, etc. thanks.
