Hi, my daughter is 6 months and this week she had to start eating, as the doc said. But she doesn´t want to eat mashed fruit and cries and only wants me to breastfeed her. As I´m watching it I´m learning and I think I´ll give it a try but I´m afraid of the chance she could choked herself with a pieace of carrot or banana. please help
@SilBarreiroFal First of all, note that the baby should continue to breastfeed as normal when going through BLW. At first she will just play with the food, a few days to a week later, she'll get interested and put it in her mouth. Make sure to use soft foods at first like bananas and boiled carrots. She might gag, but that is a natural reflex (it makes my wife nervous every time), she will learn how much she should bite this way. If a baby is choking, they will not make a sound, so ...
@SilBarreiroFal ... that is the first thing that you should look for if you think she is choking. Secondly, this should tell you that you MUST watch your baby as she eats, because if she does happen to choke, you will not hear it, and you need to watch your baby. I suggest getting the BLW book and reading it, and watching and talking to other on YouTube who are doing BLW. Hope this helps!
@LaneVidsMobile Thank you so much for taking the time to explain. My daughter loves boiled carrots and peach. It happens just the way you described it. At first she began playing and now we can say she eats. Of course BM is her main food.
So cute! I totally "awwww"-ed when she got scared at the mixer. ^_^
