this kind of music really suited Kabaeva, and so far this is my faourite routine from her (even with the mistakes)

All of you are pointing out mistakes in her routine. Did you go to the Olympics and perform faultlessly? Don't critisize Alina so much until you learn that routine so that you don't drop a single mark. Not saying don't point out mistakes just don't say things like she didn't deserve the gold

If you're saying Kabaeva should have beaten Bessonova because her routines were harder, then Tchachi definitely should have gotten gold! Her routines were harder and more precise and, other than the ribbon mistakes, had way fewer mess-ups. But, to call Kabaeva a "bag of fat" is not fair either, she is tiny!

this music makes me think of Maria Petrova's Clubs routine too much to really enjoy it...and the choreography's just not very...it doesn't pull you in. It's just a series of elements she can sort of perform. Everything went downhill for Alina after 2001...uggh.

kabaeva was MUCH better when she was smaller like compare hoop 1997 to this? she was much better then i miss her small her!

this routine was her best final routine in Athens but it doesn't mean she deserved gold!!!!!!!!!!! look at others! she was so slow, het technik - so poor, jumps - havy...........it is not a gold - it is shame to have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tschaschina or Bessonova deserved it!!!!!!

@crazyRGfangurl i didn't mention Kanaeva........she is next generation. I told that that olympics were not Kabaeva's,previous one was her(not consider hoop), there were much more better gymnasts - Bessonova and Chashchina.........Kabaeva was very poor in technik in all routine. She had few strong elements!!!! Her waight supose to be less!!! Is that champion level????????

I suggest u to watch Bessonova's and Chachshina's routine and u will understant what i mean

Compare small Kabaeva,like somebody told here, and this Kabaeva - different persons.........small Kabaeva was full of emotions,good technic with a lot of difficulties!!!

This olympics she reminds me rabbit with a model smile - was so scared to do routins, no element self-estime becouse to avoid mistake like 4 years ago.........

@crazyRGfangurl that the point, Tchashchina did one mistake in ribbon and Bessonova NONE!!! First place deffinetly for Bessonova! She was stronger in everything than Kabaeva, even with Tcashina(not consider ribbon mistake). Look at Bessonova's jumps!!!! routine's tehcnic - she was so fast,not like Kabaeva - so slow......even long Bessonova's legs - she is a real gymnast. She didn't winn that Games becouse of scandal - Derugina and FIG(1st reason), Vinner's corruption...

@5757liliya hmmm well bessonona did very ood but kabaeva did harder routines she caught evrything WITH music and it is very hard and don't sai tht she is bag of fat! kabaeva did harder routines then bessonovs 1 she didi EVERYTHING with music 2 bessononva is awesome too but kabaeva did harder routines and elements bessonova did none mistake but no elements tht kabaeva did well they both very darn AWESOME GOOD!

@crazyRGfangurl what do u mean harder??? ......flexibility??? it is not ALL in gymnastics; pivots, jumps, technic and a lot of more other factors play role. Look at Kabaeva's clubs technik??? that is a shame to have for olympic champion!!!!!!!!!!!!! She even cannot throw them with a good amplitude!!!!!!!!!!!..........­just compare with Tcashina and Bessonova................

@5757liliya well i don't now then do u have any ideas? cuz bessonova's score was 106.700: Ribbon 26.725, Clubs 26.950, Ball 26.525, Hoop 26.500 and kabaeva's score was 108.400 Hoop 26.800, Ball 27.350, Clubs 27.150, Ribbon 27.100

@crazyRGfangurl Besso should have scored higher in clubs, ribbon and ball. She was very clean. She made a mistake during her hoop routine, but it was still good. Kabaeva's ribbon was a hot mess, nothing good, her ball routine was a disaster, she lost balances, low releve, unprecise catches and so on. Kabaeva's hoop was her best routine at the time but still not any better than Besso or Tchachi. Alina should not have been gold, that's a fact.

@LovelyMe93 Well Irina Tchachina made a mistake and a big one so yea Alina won. Maybe she did over score for some of her routines but Alina is the mother of modern Rhythmic Gymnastics and she should be respected for it.

All gymnasts in the podium have mistakes.

But mistakes are tiny deductions.

If every gymnast made a huge mistake, do you think Waina Monteiro or Mary Sanders would have win just because they were clean? No.

I think Tchachina, despite her mistake, was the best, for dropping her ribbon was only .10 off her mark.

I didn't see that many mistakes in Kabaeva's ribbon routine, care to explain them?

Good? Not good at all. I could find three mistakes here!

- She had du perform an adjustmant for her catch at 0:55 before entering into the front walkover.

- She didn't complete the split kick to kick the hoop back into the air at 1:34.

- She had a lot of difficulty reentering the hoop after her final toos at 1:39.

Very disapointing, I think that all these mistakes are bigger than the one she did in Sydney.

Absolutley! Her only advantage was that these mistakes are hard to see for the untrained eye. While a hoop going out of the carpet or a tangled ribbon are easy to spot. Her mistakes in this routine alone are far worse than Chachina's mistake with the ribbon. I am not even going to talk about Kabaeva's ribbon routine with zero pattern and mistakes after mistakes.

0:55 : Since she caught the catch cleanly, then passed to the other arm, it's not an error.

1:34 : She lost her CAP value for that element and received a penalty for not having enough CAP elements. Her artistic score was only a 9.0, which was lower than her other routines and Tchachina's routine.

1:39 : She should have received an execution deduction and loss of CAP value for this.

There are more mistakes I could point out, too, if you want. When I said "it's all good", I meant it was good for her that she didn't completely screw up.

Kabaeva's not the only person whose mistakes are overlooked.
