  • This is NOT the proper way to build an anchor! ALWAYS see a professionnal... ça n'a pas de bon sens. Il ne ferme pas ses mousquetons à vis et il utilise 2 longes sans se préoccuper de la redondance. Il n'a pas de noeuds... DANGER

  • Just watch this instead... far more instructive, less waffle, no plugs for crap instruction. So many videos by this guy are just downright dangerous if used "as is".

    LwAEXZA9ZmE

  • Completely useless. If you're going to really not teach anything, and recommend "proper" (ironically pointing out that your own video is improper) instruction, then why make a vid at all? OOOooooOOOohhh yeah... you need to plug your rock gym which is most likely a dangerous place to climb because of improper instruction. Ooohhh the irony.

  • this didnt help me at all...

  • lose the beard. Really!

  • i would never climb with this guy. that first anchor isn't even equalized. this should be taken down.

  • this guy has no idea. forget everything and consult professional climbers to learn this important stuff...

  • This video is a loss of time, I didn't learn anything

  • expert village is bullshit, nuff said.

  • This was most unhelpful.

  • what is the point of this video? Thanks for the quick overview I guess?

  • @fenix990 The point of the video is just that--to give an overview. It's not an in-depth video for numerous purposes. You can pick up on terms he uses and research those further, or take his advice and get professional instructions?

  • Too bad both anchors were not equalized and not multi-directional. Two quickdraws rarely equalize!!! Then, if one piece fails, you shockload the other bolt. Sorry to say, and with all do respect, this is poor advice. For better advice, refer to the Falcon Guide, "Anchors."

  • that is the amarican deth triengle!

  • what kind of harness do you have i like it

  • If you aren't going to actually instruct people on how to do things properly, don't bother. You are giving just enough instruction to get someone seriously hurt or killed. Take this video down!

  • Although he didnt go into detail, his anchors arent bad. Still, he didnt explain anything about why equalization is important, or that there are very very dangerous anchor "equalization" setups.

  • This guy totally sucks.

  • This is pointless. He throws out the final steps, doesn't even summarize previous steps, doesn't explain the why or how of anything, then admonishes the viewer to get professional instruction. Either go into detail with each crucial step, or...or nothing, really.

  • @sytby he did by telling you to get proper instruction.

  • @hydr5 sytby knew that...

  • @WeBeChillin420 ok, he goes in depth, someone watches this and then dies for not following his instructions properly. Liability. Its not his job to teach you everything, hes doing this for free too

  • @hydr5

he gets paided threw google adsense for having so many videos and views trust me

  • @sytby it says expert village. well an expert would have gone into details why it could be best to use 3 anchor points for example why its safer using 2 rather than 1 or why its even better if possible to use 3. im no expert hell the closest ive got to rock sports was abseiling when i was young but even i could see a better job could have been done with this video

  • How equalized the first anchor was depends on where it was being pulled from, but the majority of the time it would need some adjusting.

The way I was taught included useing all locking biners for anchors so I'd like to put in that piece of info on here.

I'm wondering why this video was made on youtube though, it dosn't seem to say much and half of that includes 'dont use this without further instruction. go learn from a professional first'

  • There is nothing wrong with this, but it is SO important that you get real, in-person training from a qualified person at your local gym or from your guide.

  • Nothing is wrong with this video. If you think its dangerous, explain why otherwise don't post. His bolt and trad anchor systems are solid, and he even says get instruction. What more do you want... geez.

  • @scullion01 You've hit on the major critique of this video in your own comment: "[E]xplain why[. O]therwise don't post." He doesn't "explain why" anything. Therefore, by your standard (and I heartily agree), he should not have posted this video.

  • Scott stresses enough how important it is to get 'proper instruction'.

    How right he is!?!

Dont listen to this Muppet kids!

You have been warned by the Muppet himself.

  • wow. no wonders people die , because of videos like this,

  • Your last comment should be the whole video, why was this produced? Horrible instruction.

  • Instruction for a 4 year old - if you are trying to kill him.

  • that first anchor is not equalized. Just so you know

  • hahahah totally. Screw gates would be nice too

  • @caseyjones22 two anchor points don't always need to be equalized. As long as there is no rope drag once tension is applied it will equalize as is.
