all these years and this song still brings on the goose pimples! Thanks for posting this and to all those that recognize better music when they hear it. Beth Wishes!
We had Troy in Lima, Ohio live in performance while this was still on the chart! Simple enough instrumentation that the band was able to about emulate the record studio sound. Not often you get that.
GREAT GREAT sound on Liberty (?) records. Got it in a FW Woolworths "Grab Bag", Wilkinsburgh, Pgh - 5 singles for $1 + tax. Played it on XCFT, land based pirate, RAF Croughton, UK, in '64 and a hit with listeners. Thanks for posting.
Remember this song playing then The Corsairs Smoky Places at Minetti's school store across from my high school in Chicago. I think those were the only two song's we ever played, back and forth.God,those were the days at Tilden Tech HS,I can't tell you how much I miss them.
This is the song that was playing on the Jukebox at the diner mom was working at the night the sheriff came in and told her her husband and his brother was just killed up the rd in a car crash.(1961)
Half a century just kinda melts away.....Loved this song in 8th grade, love it now at 65. Cool, how music can do that. Hope you're still out there singing, Troy.
Esta es la versión real, con ése solo de piano incomparable.El sello fué "Liberty Records" ,en Chile salió bajo el sello "Vivart".Gracias por poner el original.

Yep-Troy got embarrassed about it later and covered with crap-
the raw piano is what makes this song!

Thank Heavens that this one does not have any dubbed in sax or guitar over the perfect piano in the instrumental break.

Great- was this before or after the big label release?
Actually on his website- he covers up the piano solo with a stupid sax part.
Sounds like another track was added there
