I always knew Ozzy didn't write all those songs. Even before I knew really anything about music, I had these albums when i was 14-15. I already knew Ozzy didn't play guitar. I thought that his name on the song writing credits was just a part of laziness on the record company. Back then, a lot of albums didn't have ANYTHING on the inside sleeves, especially cassettes. Many times there would be misprints and mistakes in the sleeves. I figured Ozzy just wrote most of the lyrics and vocal parts.
@gayskunk RIGHT I AGREE 100% BOBS BOOK (WORKING TITLE) FOR FACT'S SAKE IS DUE THIS SPRING!! BUT OZZY & Co CAME CRAWLING BACK TO BOB FOR LYRICS UP THROUGH NO MORE TEARS.....& GEEZER WROTE THEM IN SABBATH ASIDE FROM (I THINK,AM I GOING INSANE & JUNIORS EYES) I THINK OZZ WROTE COMPLETE.BUT OZZY DID WRITE THE VOCAL MELODIES & HE SAID & CAN BE HEARD ON THE RECORDS ,WHENEVER HE COULDNT THINK OF A MELODY HED SING THE GUITAR RIFF (IRON MAN IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE) LEE WROTE ALOT ON DIARY & YOU CAN TELL
You can't deny Bob, Lee and Don's contributions. These guys are rock and roll legends. Randy's greatness on guitar aside, no way would Ozzy have had the success that he has enjoyed without them.
@Vaizorg I would guess it was about 50/50. Bob and Randy were masters at songwriting together. Bob had a lot more experience though. Randy was very young.
@PurpleSnowFox NO -- WRONG. I just heard Bob Daisly in an interview say he actually wrote it about Ozzy, about how Ozzy was "drunk all the time" after he got kicked out of Black Sabbath, and about how the word "Solution" had a double-meaning to it, as in solution meaning "answer" or solution meaning "mixture of liquids". He said that Ozzy only wrote one line in the song: "Wine is fine, but whisky's quicker"
"This song was written by BOB DAISLEY about Ozzy. He saw what Ozzy was doing to himself after Sabbath. Ozzy did NOT write this about Bon Scott. Lies, lies, lies. He has been telling lies for decades about his songwriting. Bob Daisley wrote most of his best material up to No More Tears. IF you don't think Bob wrote Ozzy's lyrics google "Max Norman KNAC" and read the article."
The bottom line is you can say all you want about Sharon Osbourne. But she is the reason that Ozzy even continued in rock music after getting fired from Sabbath. Ozzy was a drunken and drugged out wreck and propably would have overdosed or drank himself to death if she didn't come into his life. And they started with nothing after they had to buy out his contract from her dad Don Arden. So if she is a tough business woman that's the way it is.
@beowulven no its now proven that ozzy didnt write shit...bob daisley wrote the lyrics for both diary and blizzard of ozz, the only thing ozzy wrote was " wine is fine but whiskeys quicker" the rest is bullshit, bob daisley wrote it about osbourne, osbourne says he wrote it about bon scott....ozzy was a drunken buffoon most of the time...read rudy sarzos book " off the rails -tribute to randy rhoads" and bobs book which will be released later this year...as for sharon....( no comment)
if you listen to bob daisleys interview on yt its obvious even randy rhoads was pissed off being in the ozzy osbourne band not the blizzard of ozz band..and sharon was behind it all cleverley turned it all to ozzy who couldnt write lyrics or even stay in tune..good eh? thats why kerslake and daisley had a problem and rhoads to a degree and as you can see here don airey also...
daisley wrote almost all osbournes lyrics for him....and rhoads kerslake and daisley wrote all the music....
It was my great pleasure to catch Mr. Airy on DP's 1972 MAchine Head re-visited tour @ The Beacon Theatre in NYC and at the Cape Cod Melody Tent tour for Bananas. I've been thinking about Randy, and it's been so long since I've gone over the details that Don Airy has gone from stranger to highly able and talented musician.I now have a face and a music persona to attach to Mr. Airy. Isn't it possible that RR saved all their lives by pulling the plane to the left and avoiding the bus head on?
@rokarolla No, it's not possible Randy saved their lives. A simple reading of the facts of the crash prove it - the attitude of the plane (deep bank) would have made it impossible for any passenger to "pull" the controls. This particular model of Bonanza may have had dual controls but Randy was in the back passenger area. Very sad but it was simply a freak accident with a pilot who had no business flying a plane at the time.

Anyone know how much of the actual music Bob wrote? Not the lyrics. Or was Randy the main driving force behind the music? (I doubt it)

Wasn't "Suicide Solution" written about Airey? Wikipedia says otherwise, but I remember an Ozzy interview...

@beowulven Bob Daisley said he wrote that song about Ozzy's drinking.
