I totally agree with what this gentleman is saying. I own both an E34 525i and a W140 S600. They're both great cars, and I can't really take sides with either of them. I appreciate the bavarians ability to stay stable around the corners. For straight line speed, and long distant cruising the W140 is hard to beat. Both cars are great for highway cruising.

I guess the 500e V8 would be godlike motor in the tuning scene if it would be as good as your saying.

Merc only makes good diesel motors that can make big power. Search for OM606 + Holset. :)

Ich finde beide Autos geil. Bin zwar E34 Fanatiker, aber der W124 hat mir schon immer gefallen. Nur was man hier nicht vergessen darf ist, das der E34 M5 eher was für die Rennstrecke ist, als der 500E. Der W124 ist eher zum sportlichen Gleiten gedacht, der E34 M5 eher die Sportlichere und handlichere Karre. E34 & W124 for the win !

Mercedes jumped first, M5 spins tires on 1st gear..Its ok Benz has low end torque but hi end the M5 is the winner. No to mention on corners and sport driving characteristics. Over all the M5 is the winner of the 2. Mercedes is nice cruiser. Both cars are good

Specs are M5 3.8 340hp 0-100 in 5.9sec 500E 326hp is 0-100 6.1 This is the factory specs. just to inform u haters i had 2 w124's before getting an amg. im telling u guys the w124 is the funnest shit to drive i had two e420's and its so much funner than my new c class, i mean i had no traction so i had easy drifts amazing handling(suspension was handled by porsche) and freeway acceleration was amazing it wouldnt even hint itself of slowing down when going over 140 mph i just didnt have to ballsto see how far it would go didnt go past 150 but for a 1994 not even an amg, wow

Well, Im sorry if my post was arrogant, I should say that Benz is more for showing up. And of course, that 322 (or 306?) HP is quite enough for storming on the 'Bahn'.

In drag race I believe 500E is better than M5 E34 3.5, beacuse of that terrible torque what comes from that 5 liter. with a 3.8 M5 Im not sure...even if u pick some of the 6 gang versions...

But on some race track like lets say Nürburgring I would bet for M5 all the way, even for 3.5 ;)
