He then cut the video of himself in front of the table and put it "over" the wideshot of him on the couch. The camera was kept the same way in both shots, and he made it so that everything in the room lined up. That's how.

@Armogohmafan By "cut" I mean trimmed the stuff he didn't need of picture.
