  • If this rendition doesn't break your heart, perhaps youv'e no heart to break.

  • @MultiKimmyKimKim yes. agreed. well said.

  • Wretched visual . . . great audio!

  • enjoying the trip now. thanks folks.

  • There is a part 2

  • there is a wonderfully powerful guitar riff at the end that's missing here. after all the vocals are done Jerry's guitar riff just rises up and powers through the last minute of the song. it'll will give you goosebumps listening to it. This riff is where Jerry transforms the song into something so much better than Dylan's version. Even though Dylan's version was a masterpeice, Jerry can't help but blow it away.

  • Wonderful version of this great song . . . I love the slower pace - somehow, it suits the song better.

  • My he sure makes that thing cry

  • Ahhh this song is so fun to play along with, so fun to sing along with, so fun to get high with..

  • I so remember when when this song hir hit home while on the hill.....strung out in SF

  • Talk about leaning back, sipping on whatever you want - whiskey, scotch, soda, water - and just loving what this man and band gave to us. we are the recipients of a great great gift. Thank you Jerry.

  • This song always help me gather all my thougth

  • what a difficult song to jam to it seems.

  • great cover

  • Fuckin gorgeous... Peace man

  • I just love the eerie sound of a day come and gone once upon a time. Very, very cool. I suspect people will watch this in 100 years with awe and wonderment of what things must have been like in 1980. I do not expect this to ever be forgotten.

  • Wonderful. Thanks for the upload!

  • Whoever you are. Thank you for adding perhaps the most beautiful song ever recorded for all to hear and see. best.

  • @1DMCQ1

  • Too slow, far too slow. No need for covers of Bob Dylan. I play in bathroom to washing machine, It's all the audicence I need. (Even if washing machine gets broken!)

  • Comment removed

  • @anrui88 why do you have a washing machine in your bathroom?

  • Nice jam, good sound, too bad the video looks as if it was recorded in 1880.

  • one of my fav vids on the tuber

  • must say the keyboard solo is garbage - sounds like a teen on their casio - otherwise...

  • super jazzy

  • I was fortunate enough to be on Jerry tour at this time. This was truly electric Jerry at his best. As Hunter said, it was a stripped-down, bare bones JGB-No background vocalist, etc.(He opened and during the late show was brought out to do Tiger Rose and Promontory Rider :) Ozzie Ahlers, the keyboardist on this tour, forced Jerry to really think about his playing. Ahler's and Jerry could be seen battling back and forth thu solos. Ahler's was not asked back. I always wonderd why?

  • @limbositter Didn't jery pick up Melvin Seals the keyboard dude after this? So I don't think it was a rebuke of Ahlers but rather Jerry reaaly clicked with Melvin and decided to stay that course. It seemed to me that Jerry's vocals became more manageable with the stuff he did with the Garcia Band as he grew older and his voice became deeper with less range. I loved his voice in the 70's with the Dead but after the 82ish, I only loved his voice with the Garcia Band.

  • his best cover of all - he made this song his in my book. wonderful lyrics ; perfect man to sing it. Jerome Garcia. Rest in peace big man.

  • Just like heaven...

  • Jerry at his best. The period after this during the eighties were all downhill. Thank you Jerry

  • @sweeenoo Lol, the only way you could make this statement was for lack of being there.....What about the Warfield in the '90's?? If you missed everything past the early '80's, you really cant comment. I agree that JGB shows from 76-80 were epic.....so were JGB shows through the 9s, only glitch being when Kemper was fired which changed the vibe for a bit. Garcia changed as he aged, shows with the GD were not close to the purity with which he played JGB gigs from '90 on.

  • zer000, u hit it on the head my man... jerry was just a simple twist of fate put here to give us strangers a chance to find a common love and forever cherish it as a whole. jerry was a man beyond words..

  • gratefulpat, man - you are so right! Saint Jerry lives on!

  • 1969 Impala. They changed them so fast and then out.

    Hope everyone found a place.

  • i have this show on my mp3.and this is the first JGB song i ever heard.

  • if I had a keyboard that sounded like that, I'd never leave the house, or something like that......

  • This show was on my 14th birthday, and I was only a few miles away at the time. I would have gone, but I wasn't a fan yet. My parents should have made me go even if I didn't want to, and told me that I would understand when I grew up.

Lovely version of this song. Jerry is my favorite Dylan cover artist.

  • ...but were you high?

  • touchy :)

  • Jerry loves us!

  • later on in this the screen dosent look like a gray blob

  • love this song

  • RIP Jerry, A Simple Twist of Fate took you away from us 14 years ago today, our Trips have never been the same. RIP

  • @zer000rez Thanks zer00orez. In 1995 when I heard Jerry had passed away, I said to myself "If Jerry can die, I can pull a felony." I did. I got caught by my father who gave me a one way ticket to Santa cruz, Ca. where I did chiva for the 1st time. The last concert with Jerry i saw was Shoreline Ampitheatre, Mountainview, Ca. He died after his next concert at Soldiers Field which is appropriate because Jerry was a trooper! RIP Jerry and thanks again zer000

  • What a show .....just rebuilt my 4 barel carb in my 1969 impala...don was going to war ...rest of us had no place to go..
