@gwfactions2 Because he hits it with a lot of speed. Have you ever tried hitting it hard with it facing straight or up because that would fly out of bonds if you hit it really hard. It's basic physics.

Now that Roddick's fitter and lighter, I really like his chances in the clay court season and I think he can make at least the 4th round of Roland Garros if he can forget his last few results.

Roddick is about power; clay is obviously the last court on which he will be effective. But who knows with the performance he showed at Wimbledon and his new fitness, he could be surprising.

I agree. his service return whether it be a first serve return, will usually be a top sping forehand, or a slice return.

then for 2nd serves he'll usually always hit a hard topspin forehand, but to me it looks like he ALWAYS hits his returns right back to his opponent.

if he could attack second serves with a more tactile approach, he could win a lot more points.

It just means you hit with fairly little spin. His forward swing is straighter than on topspin shots.

because serves are not like 3 pointers, 3 pointers are more like down the line shots which are more risky. dunks are like smashes and passes are like the rally. you have 2 serves just so u dont get the 2nd one in, any pro can serve, it's not how fast ur serve is. roddick doesn't vary his game as much, why do u think he is in the 1,000's while djo,fed,nad are in the upper 5 and 6ks?

I disagree with you completely..he wins many points by fighting from the baseline and his forehand can get nasty when he rips it,he beat nadal and djokovic in dubai recently in case you are unaware,each player has their own unique style of playing..

roddick does everything federer does, the difference is that roger just does it better and he´s a much better athlete and he has of course,a stronger mental focus..roddick is not one dimentional like many say..he serves insane,has good groundstrokes, uses the slice well, comes to the net..I think with roddick it´s more mental than anything else..i also think he could work harder on his agility and speed..

Roddicks forehand has no power. Most of his forehands are loopy and land short. All he does now is hit with too much spin and no power.

Last time I saw him play he did quite the opposite. Roddick does very little topspin on the ball and puts alot more power. That should mean that he has less margin of error and the balls go deeper
