that was a shit shot at a range too far to cause instant death or a lot faster than the one your deer suffered. i have nothing agaisnt hunting as i do it but know your limits and ranges better
@JEDIHAMSTER101 That was actually a textbook shot that was well within range. Anything less than 100 yds with a shotgun is perfect. That deer didn't take any longer than 45 seconds to die. Right behind the shoulder is the area that you are aiming for and from looking at the footage it was just that. Great shot... great kill... great video... and a great time with dad... what more could you ask for?
@thetineiestbullfrog, if that gun is an H&R slug gun, i have the same one. if you have a rifled barrel you can reach out pretty far with the right slug (sabot) work just fine. I have a smooth bore 870 and can get out about 100 yards with a 4-5 inch drop and group them about the size of a CD. great gun, and great video
I like hunting with my shotgun shooting sabots more then a 30/30 or really any rifle, with my mossberg 500 rifled barrel steel sights shooting hornady sst sabots i can group better at 100 then my buddies marlin 336.

@firefox8192 they can be lethal out to 60 yards or more without a doubt but if you are trying to shoot deer that far you want to make sure that you are shooting a tight choke tube like full choke or even possibly a turkey tube, thats what i use in my gun. I live in north carolina and i dont run dogs i still hunt but when guys get to runnin dogs you never know that they might be runnin towards you. and i dont wanna be flingin slugs at deer runnin through the woods
@firefox8192 and this past year i killed my farthest deer to date with 00 buckshot with a turkey tube in it, 65 strides and dropped right out. No lie, aint gonna bullcrap you, big doe was gettin run by dogs through the woods and she stopped just for a brief second allowing me to get a shot off and dropped her right out at 65 strides which is right around 60 to 65 yards but i have seen further shots made on deer but as far as lethal shot id keep it 75 yards or less

@sjjdiienno1 Somebody in every family was the first hunter and most of them were self taught. Go take a hunter safety course, pass it, then go to a sporting goods store and buy a 12 gauge slug gun and practice with it before you hunt. You can fit a scope to most of them after sighting it in your on your way. The best way to learn how to hunt deer is to start on squirrels. Learn how to sit still and be quiet in the woods.After you kill some of them you'll be better at deer hunting. "be safe"

@ccrock4t This is a lot more humane than the meat you buy at your grocery store. And you can't randomly just go out in the woods and start shooting deer or any animal. There are laws behind it. You can only hunt deer during a certain time frame; you have to purchase your tags, the antlers on a buck have to be a certain size. Most hunters are not breaking the law. wow i just took my hunters safty course in texas and we have a new good rule saying its antlers have to be 13 inches far apart becuase we wanna let the deer grow that deer was young and you did a terrible shot im not complaining but your dad sucks at huntin

it puts food on their plate and my dad hit a deer yesterday doing 50 mph that deer ran off and died if we dont hunt deer end up getting hit but the truck was built ford tough just broke a piece of the grill it was a doe she was about 155 lbs

It's really gross what humans do to eachother and animals. Sure animals aren't as smart as us, but we hunt...for fun (i dont). Some old 100 year old lady gets shot and police are everywhere, but we kill thousands of deer every year but no one gives a crap? Oh yeh, shows how smart the human race is. But some people say "but it was for food!". Why not just buy food (no, im not a vegetarian but most people hunt for fun).

@ccrock4t This is a lot more humane than the meat you buy at your grocery store. And you can't randomly just go out in the woods and start shooting deer or any animal. There are laws behind it. You can only hunt deer during a certain time frame; you have to purchase your tags, the antlers on a buck have to be a certain size. Most hunters are not breaking the law. Go educate yourself before you make ignorant comments.
