  • Thing is its near impossible to get so many classic tunes in anything other than low bitrate mp3. Other than that I'm with you.

  • @grahamhg classic tunes = vinyl

  • @metalsinani most old vinyl is in a bad shape though. Believe me i've tried to get good copies.

  • Even hearing these new CDJ's against vinyl at the Berghain you still find the vinyl is much fuller and bigger. CD still can get too hard even on their system.

  • @garyalsop1976 try digital tunes.. their prices for wav/mp3/flac are all the same price

  • @garyalsop1976 Absolutley right, this guy need's to remeber that we aren't all rich. I have no doubt that funktion one makes the some of the best gear in the business, but it's also some of the most expensive gear, too.

I'll do the best I can, but please don't take it as an insult if I can't give you the cream of the crop audio quality. Sometimes it's about the music and not the sound.

    Still, I love funktion one

  • @not0evn why would you need to be rich to pay 2 quid a track ? vinyl costs upwards of 6 pounds for a single and i know countless vinyl djs

  • @metalsinani I don't remember what I was thinking when I wrote this. If I had an opportunity to play a venue that had funktion ones, I would bring the best audio i could.

I just hope nobody writes me off as a dj because I'm only playing 320k mp3s. I think that's a little pretentious.

  • Does not matter what audio format your using if the producer of the music cannot master and is using poor quality instruments or samples in dance music. I use 90's hardware to make music. It costs more but the sound quality will be guaranteed to be at a good standard. A good keyboard or rack mount synth will sound better than any vst plugins.

  • @thefishdog "A good keyboard or rack mount synth will sound better than any vst plugins" - I'm sorry but that is complete and utter bollocks. Tony Andrews quite rightly thinks lossy formats (mp3) shouldn't be used in public performances nor the home. His qualms are with the quality of audio storage mediums, not the source of the audio in the first place. A sine wave is a sine wave is a sine wave.

  • Well I suppose it depends on what you are doing, but to answer your question directly, PMC, Meridian Audio or the B&W Nautilus range are regarded by many as some of the best speakers in the world today.

  • This guy is an idiot

  • @katankat yeah that's why he makes the best speakers in the world

  • @FreekyMage Hahahahaha, you must under their hippy tripping spell!

No they do not make the best speakers, not by a long way.

If your on acid or tripping your balls off then yes they are clear at 3-5khz but in overall quality, especially bass, no way.

One day you will learn.. That is why they are only used by the hippy dance tribe..

  • @katankat instead of all this talk about hippies, what do you suggest and why?

  • I would love to see Tony submit to a blind test of 320 kbps MP3 vs WAVE....or just 256 kbps for that matter.

  • @DogBoots77 at low volumes im sure there wouldnt be any difference but when you are talking about the volumes that gear gets to the clarity really does start to suffer :(

  • @DogBoots77

are you being serious?? anyone involved seriously with musicProduction/reproduction would hear the difference, if you cant well then i guess your ears are shot :(

  • @Lectrosoul I would probably agree with this comment. I find it hard to know what I'm missing until I experience it. Like with my PA setup at home, it seems pretty good but if I added some subs or upgraded to F1 I'm sure I wonder how I ever put up with what I have now.

Also @DogBoots77 good drugs help with focus on audio ;)

  • Reasonably priced WAV files for all. Hear, Hear!!!

  • It' s funny to hear this conversation on sound quality on Pioneer channel.... a Factory that produce good cd player, but their mixer are very inferior to other big producers!

  • Tony is a great person. And I'd recommend all the DJs, promoters, Club Owners to listen his words!!!

    Really

  • "greetings earth people!" HAHA, hand on heart, some of the best people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. Go check out a proper Funktion One setup with a DJ who knows what he/she is doing and you will know exactly what it is they talk about. I want to see more F1 videos on here!

  • Mmmm anyone spot the FFA funktion one branded amp up there? I think Mc2 have lost the monopoly!

  • Holy shit there's a hairy snake on his shoulder.

  • lol :D

  • THANK U Sir for that statement!, i agree 100%, Mp3z are kid stuff and don't belong in a pro enviroment!

I do hope Pioneer will do a shiftchange in the industry, forceing wendors of music to offer files with alot better quality, resolution and depth.

People using mp3z dont care about the sound, their only interest

are the amout of files they can put on their harddrives.

  • I felt like he should be changing his outside shoes and jacket for his inside shoes and jacket. Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood.

  • i'll say. wav's are expensive.

  • You gotta give it to him. In regards to moving into the right direction - why play anything that can't sound as close to a real instrument can - especially when you can do it from a device that gives you access to so much music at the touch of a button.

  • sounds good

  • That's true, but most people don't even notice the difference between a 128 kbps mp3 and a regular audio cd...

  • Because most people don't have high enough quality audio equipment.

The days of big stacks of hifi equipment are gone.

People are used to having all their music in their pocket.

A few years ago I played mono 64k MP3s at gigs, and had people come up and complement me on the sound quality of my system!
