I also have a peruvian red tail...i cannot get her to eat at all...i got her from someone else who wasn't taking care of her...she now has a clean cage w/ a heat light and everything she's about 5 feet long. I've tried mice and rats and she just doesn't care for them. any ideas?

@lizziemomma1403 if you still havent gotten her to eat, try feeding her a gerbil. my female wouldnt eat for 3 months and i finally fed her gerbils for a couple weeks until she ate regularly now she will eat anything! just make sure once they are eating regularly that you switch to rats because if they get too used to gerbils they will never eat anything else and gerbils are way more expensive and less nutritional.

You are a genius! I have one question, Size depends in the localty, in your case Iquitos (peru) A Boa constrictor constrictor brazil (Fortaleza) is as long as a Iquitos BCC? Sorry for spelling mistakes! Im from Argentina :) Another question could be what is the correct size for a terrarium for a Adult Boa constrictor.

It really depends on factors like feed schedule, genetics and other things, but a males generally stay smaller than females. Now as a rough estimate a male will get anywhere from 7-9 feet long as a range but most will be closer to the 7 foot mark. I do have a male Peruvian that is the same age as my female, but he is just around 6 and a half feet long.

Husbandry is a little different, but it has been my experience that Boa Constrictors are very hardy snakes. They are bigger of course, but they are really good snakes too own.

LOL, yeah she size is slightly deceptive. I measured her about 3 weeks ago and she came in at 22 pounds and 7'6" long. This video was almost a year ago so she was smaller then.

Like all snakes she will never stop growing, but Peruvians can be large for Boa Constrictors. Alot depends on genetics, feed schedule, and a few other things, however here is a nice range 8-12 feet.
