I'm originally from Kansas, worked in Texas as a construction foreman for 2 years after I graduated highschool (06-07) and then moved to Utah when I purchased a business, so it seems I can't get away from conservatives..lol. Gregg withdrew over issues on the census. The Dept of Commerce controls the census but Gregg has been very outspoken against the census. Gregg wanted to abolish the census or at least cut it off at the knees. The census is very important to states because it decides the amount of federal aid for low income people. Obama had to remove control of the census from Commerce so Gregg had no say on it. Gregg didnt like being micromanaged so he tucked his tail and ran home.
I hate you, Judd Gregg!! And I can say this because I'm from New Hampshire. He should be voting based on what we, the poeple of New Hampshire, want and NOT what his political party wants.

He rushed us into a war that we never should have fought. The difference here is that MOST of the delms went right along with him. I'm originally from Kansas, worked in Texas as a construction foreman for 2 years after I graduated highschool (06-07) and then moved to Utah when I purchased a business, so it seems I can't get away from conservatives..lol. I used to be a pretty die hard republican but anymore i'm kind of a conservative progressive if thats possible. I like to think objectively about things but i'm naturally a very conservative person being a business owner.

I agree with that, I remember even when I was a little kid in the clinton years and started following politics things were more moderate. I really think that whichever party comes closer to the center, quicker, will prevail. From what i've seen most studies have the majority of americans are more of less center, just leaning slightly one way or the other. The biggest things that stick out are their viewpoints on gay marriage, torture, abortion, et cetera. I'm personally not gay or anything but I don't think its right to try and tell someone else whats "right" because "this country was founded on christian values" i'm christian but I was under the impression this country was founded on religious freedom and seperation of church and state. Torture has been proven to work very seldom, and abortion i'm still on the fence about.

If he didn't like the direction the country was going, Gregg could have used his influence as Commerce Secretary to try to steer things in the "proper" direction.. Instead of doing this, he just said: "I quit."
BTW, the day after his nomination he said in a news interview that he thought a stimulus package was just what the country needed.

Gregg withdrew over issues on the census. The Dept of Commerce controls the census but Gregg has been very outspoken against the census. Gregg wanted to abolish the census or at least cut it off at the knees. The census is very important to states because it decides the amount of federal aid for low income people. Obama had to remove control of the census from Commerce so Gregg had no say on it. Gregg didnt like being micromanaged so he tucked his tail and ran home.
