  • No twang here!!! It sounds close to the Live at Leeds tone (Townshend) with the P90's.....The bridge pickup is biting and clear.....nice thru tube amp.....This video is OLD!!! The guitar had the stock humbuckers I think back then.......I changed out the pickups to P90's a while ago.

  • do you find the lead pick up twangy?

  • This tune is just a mindless, simple EASY 12 bar blues finger pickin' thing. It's nice of ya'll to say its cool but it is nuthin' really....

  • @w1av dude something can be cool even if it isn't super hard, I've been able to play 12 bar blues stuff since I was in like 5th grade but I still play it cause it sounds cool

  • I've always wanted to be able to play something like that! Whts it called?

  • omg what's that ur playing? its freaking amazing

  • awesome.

  • fingerpickin' some good ol' classic blues...sweet!

  • this is guitar playing i thing the pick is good but the real playing its with the fingers

  • I just got an Xaviere XV-820 and had it all re worked with NEW RIO GRANDE "dirty harry" P90 style pickups, #10 strings and set up, and this guitar sounds beautiful.....The other guy is right when he says Tele's have the cleanest sound...they are great guitars and I will post a new video of me playin' my modified Tele soon. I like the Tele slightly overdriven sometimes but the CLEAN tone is NICE!

  • @TheSweardreams94 its all what u prefer go to your local guitar shop and play both then make your deciosion on what you like not other people. but if your looking for opinion tele's are the cleanest guitars on the market that i know of the have great clean tone as well as distorted i love both my tele and sg, sg's are my guitar i go to when im playing a thick bluesy song or distorted and tele's are my favorit clean guitar

  • Finally!!! someone playing something OTHER than freakin AC/DC on an SG!!!!

  • @greenfish88 Hahahaha....I have a BUNCH of BETTER guitar videos on here...why the hell does everyone comment on THIS one? I am just NOODLING around and not playing anything of significance! Why does this video have 40,000+ views, and my BETTER ones have no where near as much???? OH, I hear ya on the acdc too......

  • @greenfish88 whoa dude... u hatin on angus?

  • Sg or telecaster, what's the best ?

  • Comment removed

  • Wonderful tone, dude. It inspires me to get one of these.

  • Would you prefer a Standard over the Faded? Cause i'm thinking of buying one of them. I now prefer the Standard, but what's your opinion?

  • @Swifty2893

Well if you have the BIG BUCKS to spend on a Standard, but they are only cosmetically better....the Special and Standard have the same electronics as I recall. I bought my Special on sale for $585 back in 2007. I mostly record and I found that the stock humbuckers were too heavy/bassy/thick for my liking. So a couple months ago I had a set of GFS Mean 90 P90's installed and the guitar sounds 100% better. I also have them in my Les Paul as well as my 2 SG juniors...

  • @w1av thanks for the advice

  • i heard it goes out of tune really quickly, is that true, i think im going to get one.

  • baby please dont go.

  • I recently purchased a 2001 Pewter SG special. Its a great guitar. Totally blows my epiphone SG away. And side by side with a SG standard, there isnt much difference in quality or tone.

  • save that sort of playing for your telecaster.i want to hear the special cranked up a bit

  • No the Craigslist guitar is someone elses. I live in Rhode Island. I am keeping this one.

  • maybe we wouldnt notice this isnt the same guitar from craigslist ad...

  • What get's me is someone who spends $1200+ on a nice guitar, only to RUIN it's natural beauty by DISTORTING the sound to the point where it no longer sounds like a guitar. I say to those morons, go buy a Squire to do that. A little overdrive is cool, but thats as far as I go.

  • your opinion is duly noted but many beautiful musicians create music that is loud and distorted. no need to bash them for being creative. at least they're not playng unoriginal bluesturbation scales..

  • @w1av You ain't right at this one. Good distortion doesn't ruin the guitar's tone. I mean when you hear a les paul screaming you damm know it's a les paul no? Well bad distortion and tons of distorion on the other side does ruin it and i don't use it either. Personally If i want to sound heavy or write a heavy song/riff/whatever i just downtune

  • Thank you for posting a vid. With clear sound. All the other SG vids. Have people using distortion.

  • got this guitar 2 days ago its G00d

  • The Telecaster is a TOTALLY different guitar compared to SG. In both sound and feel. I am apt to play an SG more than a Tele. BUT the Tele was used on special projects. It is a nice guitar and I love the sound. I sold it a while ago though.

  • I see you also have a telecaster, are the two guitars different enough to justify buying both? I play mostly rock and punk rock and only own a telecaster but am looking at also buying an SG...

  • Rednex??? I am not a redneck!!! I live in the suburbs, just a few miles south of Providence...no rednecks around here!!!

  • rednex

  • i have the same guitar sept i just got pickup covers for mine

  • cool, you are a good guitarist. that sg is very awesome.

  • i have the same guitar

  • yeah its big bill broonzy style!

  • Sounds like Big Bill Broonzy.

  • sg's rnt the best for finger picking, ur better off with a tele but i love the sg for my style of playing

  • SG = good metal guitar \m/

  • I have been playing guitar for 5 years know and i have this same exact guitar and it Les Paul's autograph on it. It's sweet.

  • now*, retard.

  • This is the guitar i want so bad !

  • Guitar Center had 'em on sale for about $500+ or something like that. Not bad guitar. Just get a decent setup and use at least #10 strings.....

  • were is angus?

  • i bought a BRAND new out of the box gibson sg special faded cherry from guitar center and man i love it for the price i got it for $550 NEW with fluffy Gibson gig bag

  • WTF LULZ

  • cool it can sound like an acoustic

  • love the sound on it

  • would i be able to put covers on the pickups?

  • yeah, the easiest way would be to replace the pickups on it i geuss though. i got seymore duncan JB's put in my bridge. they sort of emphasise the sound you get out of the special. just like a bigger fatter sound out of the JB's

  • yes. i'm going to do the same when i get mine

  • When your making beautiful sound, who cares what it looks like?

  • ha muita diferença da gibson sg standard para a special? a madeira utilizada é a mesma? (Has much difference of gibson sg standard for the special? The used wood is the same one?)

  • My honest opinion is there are SO MANY variables in sound with all the different combinations of amps we all use, pickups, guitar/amp settings, string guages......And yes the Standard is better in the cosmetic sense. I have played MANY SG's and the special is just as good soundwise. It is just BUTT UGLY with the uncovered pickups and friggin' DOT inlays!!!! The finish and cosmetics make certain guitars cost alot of money. Thats why us PO FOLK use the Special!!! Hahahah...

  • I reckon uncovered humbuckers look better.

  • same here. especially zebras

  • sg's rule

  • Ive got this guitar its not bad either

  • i love the worn brown model

  • I still think the dot inlays and uncovered pickups are ugly. I want trapezoid inlays and CHROME covers!!!!!! So I might get covers for this.

  • that exactly wat I thought when I was getting MY epiphone so I got the SG G-400 which is the equivalent of the SG Standard but they cost a bit more.

  • or take your guitar to a specialist and get him to change the inlays

  • I'm thinking about buying one, but i also like les paul models, hmm i dont know yet

  • I got one of those

    They Rock!

    Ur good

  • Proud owner of an SG special, love the guitar would'nt play anything else, prefer it to the standard - more versatile in terms of sound and looks

  • i think my special sounds better than the sg standard idk

  • im saving up to get one! cant wait!

  • i saved up my allowance for one of those... best money i ever spent. its got a great crunch for rock/metal

  • i had that guitar , i put a seymour duncan sh-4 on the bridg and a heavy metal foots. , it a on tha middle of a dave nustain guitar and a zakk wylde model.. a realy good guitar , I can play everything from jazz to heavy metal . it plays like a top guitar ,it s ceap and handmade with beutifull woods

what else can i say???? i use a cheap vox amply with multi effect and 11 amply simulator (marshall included )

  • is the fretboard more of a brown or black shade?

it always looks like it was black in the pictures, yet it's supposed to be rosewood. this video seems to confirm that. Does anyone know for sure?

  • Its dark brown lol not black

  • thats a nice pickup (the sd). makes that guitar work for blues. The 490t that came in it is also a nice pickup. I put a set in my les paul standard (yes a usa gibson) and im creaming myself. very "vintage sounding though i am sick of that word. very underrated pickup set. its the same as the 57 classic everybody wants now (what happened to the burstbickers???) but a little more raw. great for rock

  • nice playing. how is the faded sg on metal?

  • well i have a gibsons sg special from 2002 and I play metal

  • nice playing ! beautiful guitar

  • amazing tone. such a beautiful axe.

  • I could listen to your playing all day, nice work!

    Greetings from Germany

  • Have you played the epi G-400 sg and if so how would you compare to the gibson special?

  • you don't Gibson is out of epiphones league in quality

  • I do gree that Epiphones quality is not the same as Gibson, but the G 400 SG's are pretty good quality and they are a nice guitar once you replace the pickups and set them up. The sound is much much better with real Gibson pickups....I was surprised at the tone and bite when I plugged it in. Those old Gibson PAF's are kick ass....

  • I have to admit, my Epi SG G400 sounds NICE! It has vintage Gibson humbuckers in it. The ones that have the "patent applied for" stickers on the bottoms. These pickups are OLD and they make the Epi sound SO FREAKIN' GOOD.....Just as good as any GIBSON.....lot's of CREAMY SMOOTH sustain and BITE......

  • thats great...but, you still had to upgrade it. Most cheap guitars can sound great after you replace pickups, tuners, excetera. But thats still not the same as an orginal gibson made in the U.S. in the same price range.

  • yea if you dont replace the pickups in the g400's they can sound muddy and bad

  • yea there is absolutly no comparison i was actually gonna get the g400 faded then i looked at the special and basiclly shit myself when i heard the difference its amazing

  • y did you change the knobs on the sg

  • No the guitar is stock except for the bridge pickup which was replaced with a Seymour Duncan jazz pickup.....and yes it is a very versatile guitar.....very nice for the jazzy stuff I play. I love the feel and tone....

  • Wow I thought the SG Faded wasn't versatile at all, nice playing

  • My 2 favorite and versatile guitars are the Gibson SG like I have here and the Fender Telecaster....both the best!!!!

  • That's weird.. I 100% agree. I have a tele and I'm buying an SG tomorrow

  • lol thats funny too cuz i agree as well and im gonna get a tele soon lol

  • would u recommend gibson over any other brand, i got a gibson too and i would. check out my videos, nice playing
