There seems to be some confusion as to the video where the liner lock fails. We are not talking about your knife which we know is a Para-Military. We are talking about a Spyderco Military which someone does a spine whack test on and it fails. However the video is so short that it's hard to tell if it was really locked or not. Your video kicks butt. The Para is my favorite knife ever. I have many of them. ;)
I don't really. I spent about five minutes before filming that bit. It, like most Spydercos, are stronger they they will ever need be. The blade is 3mm. The G19 is strong and steel lined. The lock is steel. Its not as strong as a Chinook or Manix for the sole reason that the Para doesn't have a full steel spine. I don't carry my Para much. I usually have my D'Allara.
Its a Para Military. Nothing is wrong with it the lock up is strong and has zero play. Other than I sent the clip into orbit while polishing it. I need a new one.
In a disscusion with balisongnet, he said that there was a vid with the Para failing a spine whack, the knife in the video that he was refering to, was actually a normal, fullsize MILITARY. ;-)
SOrry dudes, I got this "its a para" and the "no, its a Military" thing started. When I said that the knife was a Military, I was TALKING ABOUT the video Mili001, its in the related video section to the right of the comments.
The knife in this video is a Spyderco Para-Military with a compression lock. The video showing the lock fail is a Spyderco Military with liner-lock. All the guy needs to do is send it to Spyderco and they'll hook him up.
The compression lock is argueably the strongest lock of all the Spyderco knives. This would be the last knife on earth that you would see fail.
To bungwrench. thats not a spydercomilitary. i spent about an hour a day researching spydercos wide selection of knives. that, is DEFINETLY a Para-Military. the military has a longer, more slender blade. the Para has a wider, shorter blade, as seen here.
Guys, this one is a Paramilitary, no doubt about it. Now regarding the lock... I don't say that you can't find a rotten apple among them, but a normal Spyderco has a strong, reliable lock.
Ah, I see the vid that your refering to, but thats a Military. NOT a Para. The Para is a whole different animal. It uses a compression lock, instead of liner.
It's a Spyderco Military that fails. It's not a Para. Some of the folks on here making comments don't know the difference between a phone and a knife. It's aparent from the video that the knife needs fixed (this other guys Military, not yours). He should send it to Spyderco. They'll hook him up.
I have PERSONALLY failed an Axis lock in front of a salesmen with the same apparent fanboy mentality. Just to show him that all locks can be failed and that when used correctly, you don't have to worry about it. To say a back lock just isn't very good is idiotic. To say Spyderco's locks aren't any good shows the same fanboy mentality.
i mean that there are WAY better locks than backlock like the pattented ones (axis,ARC, etc...) i like spyderco designs but their locks aren't any good
i don't remember the name of the vid i just saw it right before yours 2 days ago
Your welcome. Its really not all that big. Well, its right about the size of the D'Allara in dimensions but still feels smaller in hand. I figure with enough practice I could get a little quicker.
what's this song ?

Put in "spyderco lockbacks" in the search bar, and you'll come across a vid I made just for certain whiners. ;-)

I can't find any other para videos either, and I have most of the Spyderco vides on youtube in my favorites,
LordSpyderco 4 years ago
I am also interested in this video of the "knee tapping failure" as the only Para Military video I can find is well... Mine.
Though I wont call you a liar just yet as I have seen videos on here aswell, only of an Axis lock being tapped shut.

Spyderco Locks are exceptionally well engineered and built. I like the axis lock more though.

there's a vid on youtube from a guy with paramilitary and he can undo the lock by a tap on his knee
and by the way i own spyderco police and endura 4, and backlock just isn't very good
balisongnet 4 years ago
What is the video titled?
What do you mean by not very good?
LordSpyderco 4 years ago
Wrong. It's a Military and it has a bad liner lock. He should send it in and get it fixed.
Bungwrench 4 years ago
crap retarded liner lock...
balisongnet 4 years ago
Ignorant retarded balisongnet...
Compression lock. Stronger than the liner lock. Matches or betters most back locks in strength.

I dunno, I mean, I guess my hands look almost normal in the videos, but I'll see if I can get a video with my D'allara. Wow, that thing is HUGE.
LordSpyderco 4 years ago
My mitts are still smaller, I think.
The song is the intro to "They say hell is hot." Marilyn Manson.
I never really listen to him but the last album wasn't bad. It just happened to be the first mp3 I clicked on. :)

Awesome. The Para is my favorite knife.
Who is that song by? I like it.

AH HA HA HA. You think your hands are small.... Click on my profile, and check out my videos. My hands..... :-(

I should also note, I have small hands. Almost comically small. Think, carnival merry go round worker small.

This is actually a really good video, I never realized that the Para Military was actually that big, until I saw this. Thanks for the video
