desiel engine but the navara with the v6 4.0L is unstoppable ! You can drag race with that navara how ever the hilux has a super charged v6 that is fast as well but it only has 20kw (220kw) more than the navara (200kw) and with the lower gears on the 6 speed box both trucks are even down the 1/4 mile . The down side to the hilux is it's 10k more to buy and it's just not worth it !
@ajross73 if you intend to own both cars for a decent amount of time, say 4 years. Then in 4 years the cost of fixing the navara every month will easily catch up the extra 10k to buy the hilux. Everybody I know with a navara has had some sort of problem with it. Hilux's on the other hand have very little go wrong with them.

@box12341 I have owned both and hilux wins for me, nissan patrol i like but navara had to many issues stock but drove smoother, no low torque, HAD to remove side steps, rear diff didn't lim easy enough and when on sand no matter what filter i use i ended up with sand in my oil! not saying i hate them just saying experience led me to toyota.
You Hilux lover guys are noobs, the Navara owns them all in Power. It's because the Navara uses a transmission that can handle the high torque (the 6 speed from the 350z) (and 5 speed from Patrol) therefore they can tune them up to high power.... the HIlux has a shit 5 speed box so it can't tune them to be as powerful.
+ power doesn't mean fuck all hear (well to at least to some degree), it's more who can grip and pull!
@Matty231 mate u dont know wat ur talking about, toyota havent d tuned there engines so that there transmission can handle it. that 5 speed box is a tough unit and it lasts almost indefinetly. the engine seems d tuned because it has not had an update since they released the hilux in 2004 and theres one coming with the new hilux this year and ull see wat i mean. and the navara doesnt have the gear box of the 350z the gear ratios will be all wrong. get ur facts straight mate.
@MrNipsi Mate get your facts straight, you can share a similar transmission set up and have different ratios, like my car has a transmission that it shares with another, but it has different ratios since it's a bigger engine. Wouldn't you think a 3L turbocharged common rail could put out more than NIssans 2.5L Turbo? It's obvious it's not tuned that high, the transmission can deal with the power.
@Matty231 this is getting long huh? wat do u mean by simillar transmission, my old hj 47 shares the same gearbox with my hzj 79 but the ratios are different when the ratios are different the all the gear wheels and countershaft etc are completely different. in otherwards the gearbox is nothing a like. the prado has the same engine with a different chip on it and yanks out more power and torque, its coupled to the same 5 speed manual but different ratios because its a different duty.

The Hilux 4wd is switched on and the navara`s 4wd is switched off.. you can see the wheel`s movement...we do own a navara.. and ive tested it.. from speed to its torque... its pretty tough.. aand i can say it is the strongest pick up in its level..

how can a 2.0 litre Sierra cosworth engine be tuned to over 800hp? Its all about how efficiently the intake & exhaust work, turbo size & construction, compression ratios, injector sizes, fuel pressure etc right down the the computer software that runs the engine..
As regards the video I have to agree with CommodoreWog, its all about the torque & horsepower present at the wheels, compound of the tyres, when turbo comes on to boost etc..

As pointed out Navara did not have its 4WD engaged in fact if 4WD low was on it would have dragged the Hilux off road, i have tested this out with my Nissan and with a friends Hilus and he was not happy after trying it out i thought i could have done a video response so i will, but fair play to the Hilux driver as who was driving the Navara was a pillock who can't flip a switch

I was comparing off road specs and standard specs in my country. According to the car buyers tests (standard) but i really agree about what you mentioned referrence the driver choice is the right choice or the one he/she feels best to drive, be it the L200/navara/hilux, its personal preference.
Hilux > Triton or Navara any day they suck offroad they suck on carry heavy loads and that pretty much what a 4x4 utility is all about besides Hilux is better looking too

The Hilux 4wd is switched on and the navara`s 4wd is switched off.. you can see the wheel`s movement...we do own a navara.. and ive tested it.. from speed to its torque... its pretty tough.. aand i can say it is the strongest pick up in its level..

yeah, i agree with you but having a 3.0L over a 2.5: is a big difference. though the navara has the horsepower edge, the hilux's 3.0L engine is more capable becos of its larger displacement. just like in aircraft engines. :)

thanks, but i hear that the 2011 nissan navara will come with few changes. A V6 turbo diesel 230 hp 3.0L. for the 2011 model. The current 2.5L diesel will climb from 174 to 190 hp. And will toyota come also with changes??

how can a 2.0 litre Sierra cosworth engine be tuned to over 800hp? Its all about how efficiently the intake & exhaust work, turbo size & construction, compression ratios, injector sizes, fuel pressure etc right down the the computer software that runs the engine..
As regards the video I have to agree with CommodoreWog, its all about the torque & horsepower present at the wheels, compound of the tyres, when turbo comes on to boost etc..

As pointed out Navara did not have its 4WD engaged in fact if 4WD low was on it would have dragged the Hilux off road, i have tested this out with my Nissan and with a friends Hilus and he was not happy after trying it out i thought i could have done a video response so i will, but fair play to the Hilux driver as who was driving the Navara was a pillock who can't flip a switch

Hilux > Triton or Navara any day they suck offroad they suck on carry heavy loads and that pretty much what a 4x4 utility is all about besides Hilux is better looking too
