  • @tsir266 The guy left of Julie (Julie's right) is Donal Lunny who is playing a bouzouki. You may know already, but I think Donal has greece to thank for inventing the instrument thousands(?) of years ago. Check out Donal and Andy Irvine playing 'The Blind Harper' on youtube to see 2 bouzoukis! watch?v=yJIKcfKdBUI

  • fantastic, it's nice song and playing

  • I don't know how I arrived here, but I just can't stop listening to this angel singing and warming my heart in this cold winter day, with me not understanding a single word. It's like a magical spell. You can't understand anything but you feel the magic! :)

  • She is more than just pretty. Look how enchanted her fellow musicians are! Not that I could disagree with their awe at this lady. If she looked into my eyes as she smiled and sang, my heart would also melt.

  • She's so pretty She looks like a Fairy. Stunning voice!

  • I live in Sacramento California and we don't get this kind of quality music on our television here. You folks are lucky to have BBC in London. I hear that Julie plays the states, so if she ever comes here, I will surely go see her

  • @poxrider Blarney Castle does exist, fool. It's in Cork and was built 600 years ago by the Irish chieftain Cormac MacCarthy and is one of Ireland's greatest landmarks. Please stop acting like a ignorant six year old.

  • Fantastic!!!

  • hi all - i bought the TRANSATLANTIC SESSIONS dvd - we can hear lady Julie Fowlis and so many other wonderfull players and singers, tunes and some rare experiences - it s a little expensive (care, it s in £) but it s worth - hours of pure drop, true jewels of my collection now

  • The cold rough lands outside, a warm fire in the hearth in a small thatched cottage in the highlands, a few elderly clansmen playing traditional instruments whilst a lass sings age-old songs. The embodiment of Gaelic culture. Perfect.

  • She is amazing :D I love her voice! x

  • Go Julie!

  • Real Western European music and culture.

Ancient, but still alive and kicking

  • I think there's a reason why no one dislikes this video. ;)

  • New folk obsession. I'd love to find a Scottish Gaelic pronunciation guide so I could attempt to sing along. Just mumbling at the moment. Still awesome though.

  • When ever I see Julie Fowlis I know there is hope to hear good music! God bless you Dear Julie Fow;is

  • She has a gift about her!

  • She has an Elfin quality about her, lovely.

  • @misteranonymousguy One must love that Language, Beautiful !

  • @misteranonymousguy

who is to say that she isn't an elfin?

  • @misteranonymousguy "Elven" not "Elfin"

  • @DaniMannequin

"elfin" is perfectly acceptable and a very apt description of Julie!

    .elfin [ˈɛlfɪn]

    adj

    1. of, relating to, or like an elf or elves

    2. small, delicate, and charming

    Collins English Dictionary – Complete and Unabridged © HarperCollins Publishers 1991, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2003

  • @misteranonymousguy

I know, she should have played Galadriel in the "Lord of the Rings", she'd have been perfect! And didn't Tolkien base Elfish tongue on Gaelic anyway?(Okay, I think it was Welsh, but SHOULD have been Gaelic!)

  • Excellent ..She looks and sounds so amazing :)
