Wall Street Journal - Betsy Mckay - The medical costs of treating obesity-related diseases may have soared as high as $147 billion in 2008, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday, as its new director set a fresh tone in favor of more aggressively ...
Obese people should be charged more on everything. It's totally unfair an 80 lb. person pays the same amount as a 200 lb. on airline ticket. You are 80 lb but you still have to pay for any extra lb of weight on your luggage. You are health normal weight hardly see a doctor but you are paying the same premium as the fat people who go to see doctors often. And even more unfair fat people get discount if they agree to lose weight but normal health people don't get any discount for stay health.
80lb person? You sure you're not talking about a child? I get what you're saying but surely you meant someone who ways 150lbs vs. 280lbs? Not to worry I get the gist of your statement and you have a point.
I'd prefer we practice preventive medicine: healthy eating and mild exercise instead of medical procedures and drugs. This caters to the individual when all they really need is a change of practice/routine.
EASY: charge fat people more for health insurance, then they will see a reason to get off their fat ass and lose weight.
