  • ha! That's my school.... I was holding one of the flags...cool.

  • .. according to the scholardship, the documentation used by Waldseemuller resulted in the word appearing on the 1507 map of the world that popularized by the printing the term.

  • I hate to bring up contrary facts as to the naming of America. Especially to a video project devoted to education of world geography but the term "America" was already in the lexicon in northern Europe when the southern Europeans were still convinced it was Asia. Amerigo Vespucci was Albergio Vespucci until he changed it after his voyage to South America. The two continents are not named after an Italian cartographer but rather a Welsh merchant named Richard Amerike (America).
