  • i want one of these so bad.. i love these engines.. may not be real big on power.. but they are cool

  • @mebe2k they last forever, even longer than a cummins or 300 straight six or 22re

  • es un motor international 6.9 papa del 7.3 que lo comercializo la ford en su panel o ven

  • *BOOM*...kid realizes he forgot to tighten flywheel bolts... followed by pain

  • is the rebuild kit you get for this motor pretty much the same as the 6.2l gm motor?

  • @idusclothing

That's an International engine, not a Detroit 6.2/6.5... So no.

  • that is a very nise build

  • Kinda similar to what we had to do in Aircraft(A&P) school except with Lycoming motors lol.

  • feel free to build one and send it my way been looking for an engine to put into my Nissan patrol GU

  • Judging by the yellow paint, that engine looks like a Caterpillar.

  • @cc10266 its just yellow paint, its the wrong paint job tho lol

  • @cc10266 your a retard

  • @cc10266 its a ford.

  • that sound is strait up sexy!!

  • With no water I would never run any engine for more than 60 seconds. I would probably stop at no more than 30 seconds since I tend to treat my machines with care. I sure wouldn't run it 3+ minutes and rev it like that unless I intended to destroy it.

  • Even a short run without water is bad for the Engine. The cylinder sleeve gets hot really fast and tries to expand in the cylinder block. That creates big forces which can crack the block or the cylinders.

  • @ungenauer doesnt matter too much, the engine is rebuilt every year for teaching purposes.

  • where is the water pump? i dont se any belts

  • @Slayer666420 the water pump is on, but not being used

  • @FordNissanChevy

Aint that bad for the engine?? ;)

Id love to have that in mij rrc, atlhough a 200tdi is lovely instead of a sucky VM :)

  • @Slayer666420 we dont run them very long at all, we stop them once they get hot

  • @FordNissanChevy

    wise dicision ;)

    lovely engine btw

  • where is you school. i would like to come join yall in a rebuild.im rebuilding one right now.

  • Wow, I can't believe a school shop has an IDI for kids to work on and teach on!

That's awesome! I wish my school had one!

  • @IDIDieselJohn our school didnt, but the tech center did.

  • Most folks would likely make fun, but I would much rather have a good 'ol N/A IDI 6.9 than a Cummins 6BT, even here at '6000ft altitude. Great video. Thank you for sharing.

Any idea what will (or did) become of this engine after they completed the rebuild?

  • @CorvusCasull went to storage. Its a school owned motor thats rebuilt every year by different people.

  • I see. That's actually kind of cool, keeps a bit of diesel history alive. 'Probably a good motor to start out on since there isn't a whole lot to replace or to go wrong on an old mechanical IDI like this one.

  • @CorvusCasull yeah the only bit of complicated stuff on it is the injection pump, no computers, electronic injectors, miles of wires, thousands of sensors, not even a turbo on this one.

  • damn fired right up nice 6.9 if id say so

  • Nice sounding engine.

  • Awesome

  • ahh good ol idi :3

  • IDI = Beast
