I was fortunate enough to see Slim perform live once, around 1986 in London. It was a great show, and he hung around afterwards to chat. What an amusing and talented man.
After my posting from 11 months ago, this your comment? How kind a soul you must be. Yes, I am Slim's daughter but you seem to be more interested in my ex-husband and our history. Think and believe what you like. I don't recall your presence. Maybe someone will write something about you on Wikipedia someday.I doubt it but maybe you should learn to spell it.God bless.
@jgjg5 I am so sorry for that jerk who said what he did. I have blocked and removed his comments. Slim was one of the greatest most talented jazz players I have ever had the pleasure of listening to (or watching). He truly was a genius. I love him to bits.
I once saw and met Slim in Cardiff. He played the basement of the Kings......from memory. I won a Satchmo album in the raffel and got him to sign it. It was nicked a year or so later but the memories of that night linger.
My husband's Dad used to sing Cement Mixer to him when eating a breakfast of oatmeal in the morning~ A little tradition that my husband sang to our kids as well.
Nice to see where my father in law got his inspiration & making a memory for generations!
So glad to see this again!! I think I have this episode of Night Music on VHS that also has "Flat Foot Floogy" another of Slim's great ones. "A reeny mo!"
@jgjg5 love your dads music. All of it. He was in Copenhagen but during a time where I was more into disco as a youngsters. Today I am avid fan of his music. God bless you and your dad.

An amazing man, I wonder what he made of Mickey Rooney if he ever met him.
If you haven't heard his How High The Moon, check it out.
