  • more like irish music..... I LOVE IRISH MUSIC

  • nice!!!! hi from mexico!!!!

  • Cape Breton has a rich tradition of producing great fiddle music. And the great Jerry Holland, also, was from Boston (God bless his immortal soul). Buddy MacMaster and his niece, Natalie. Cape Breton seems to have preserved the Scottish traditions, better than Scotland! I hope that they will be preserved and appreciated by future generations, not just musically, but culturally as well.

  • That was great stuff on the fiddle, what are the notes I'd love to be able to play it on my fiddle :)

  • It's psychically impossible not to love Irish /dance/ music.

    Kisses from Romania.

  • @xYoruichiable

    and irish girls too!!!

  • @xYoruichiable Jamaica agrees

  • @xYoruichiable its not Irish its Nova Scotia dancing that style originally came from Scotland not ireland

  • @xYoruichiable You are right. I have no celtic blood into my veins, but when I heard Irish music... Wow ! If I have a tip for you, watch : Ashley MacIsaaK's «Sleepie Maggie». It is an incredible music.

  • im a nova scotian and i am DAMN PROUD TO BE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP ON PLAYING MUSIC!!!!!

  • Great music and dance

  • Right, erm, Nova Scotia, New Scotland, where does all the Irish Dancing cack come into it, did they invade the world ffs

  • @argyll1854

A lot of Irish immigrants moved over to former British American colonies during the Plantation period and the Potato famine. Same time when the Scot's of the Highlands were slowly loosing their clanholdings to expanding Protestant families.

  • @chrisginger23

    Cheers Chris

  • Finally. I have found someone who keeps the irish spirit alive.

  • Well, when I step dance, I use only my arms, no sense wearing out a good pair of shoes, Best regards and wishing you all the greatest success possible.

  • Apparrently archaeologists have recently found an ancient Irish book entitled "Irish Dancing Part 2: How to Use The Arms..."

Joke of course - I'm a big fan and have seen variations of this style from Brittany to Scotland.

  • Awesome loved it thanks for the share ..Aussies :)

  • the girls are awesome..band too

  • TROP FORT !!!!

j'savais pas qu'on peut perdre des ficelles (violon) en jouant

  • Excellent show! G.G. Gals & guys!

  • It is widely believed that thanks to step dancing being brought from Scotland to Cape Breton many generations ago, traditional fiddling remains intact here and has been lost in Scotland. The fiddler continued the style that was brought from Scotland due to the need to play for the stepdancer. jigs and reels, for square dances, Strathspeys and Reels for the stepdancer. As for the arm placement, definitely straight and by your sides, very little movement if any, feet light & close to the floor

  • Just wondering, what is the name of this particular song/ where can I get the arrangement? It's awesome! :) I want to play it with my friend. Thanks!

  • GREAT JOB!

  • Ameri9cans aint got a clue !

  • Güzel performans, hoş müzik, güzel kızlar.Ne diyelim ? Allah sahibine bağışlasın :)

  • I'm Canadian by birth and Irish by ancestry. Keep it up guys!

  • I have a dream. It's walkin in a pub and hearing something like this ! You made me travel behind my computer, keep going mates !

  • @Wrynnbal I was at a pub in Dublin and they were playing the fiddle along with dancing. It was so amazing.

  • Wow, very good! Love Irish/Scottish music :D

  • I have to agree with Monjaru. It can be quite distracting especially if not in unison. Technically I believe the later scotish style to be the easy way out of it. A lot more balanced than the rigid later irish one and no additional effort to keep both hands and those blazing feet in in unison. But that's just lazy old me :p

  • I actually agree that it'd look a lot nicer if they just stuck to one set of arm movements; be that at the side, on their hips, or at the very least swing them in unison. The way they just let them randomly swing around is incredibly distracting from the very nice footwork.

  • Trandtional Old Irish dancing you didnt keep your hand down by your side this the first irish dancing style, the arms by the side is a later change

  • @diecastheaven still this isnt sean nos dancing its from an old scots style about the same time as sean nos irish dancing. When step dancing styles in the 18th century were progressing just because modern irish dance originated from step dancing it doesnt mean all step dancing is irish.

  • you rock!

  • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting.

  • Christine is my daughters dance teacher. She is a wonderful dancer as well as a wonderful teacher.

  • Fantastic performance and well done to the guys playin...for the muppets that dont know start studying a bit more the Girls got it right...and its not scottish/irish its CELTIC oops back to school for some

  • Beautiful! Congrats guys!

  • cape breton music nothing like it

  • Comment removed

  • Although it is breton style the dancers should at least try to keep their arm rhythums similar or it may still be perceived as undisciplined..especially if they plan to perform (which they are lol). Footwork was great and as a violin player and a guitar player top notch performance from all of ya. Thumbs up ^^

  • Very nice good job we like to see more vids, God bless you all

  • oben ohne !

  • this is no celtic dance just tapdance on celtic songs just lame bye :D

  • umm this was a gaelic storm song...

  • Gorgeous. One of my favorite videos on YT. The music had me hooked and then came the dancers. Stunning. Great work by all. And I must say, I hope that everyone appreciates that this beauty was captured live. We need to celebrate people like these folks that can make such wonderful things happen without the phenomenal amount of editing it takes to make so many current musicians sound and look as they do. Cheers.

  • From Texas, you've gained another fan. Good stuff guys. Keep it up.

  • Now i want to learn this dance with THESE beautiful girls !!!!

  • Now i want to learn this dance with THESE girls !!!!

  • Now i want to learn this dance with THESE girls !!!!

  • Great job on everyone's part but my only criticism would be that the girls either need to keep their arms still/straight at the sides and not sway them (Irish style) or keep their hands on their hips (Scottish style). Either way, no real criticism...good stuff.

  • @BrokenBard or #3 keep doin what they are doing (Cape Breton Style)

  • @ceolach classic, touche'

  • @ceolach Just Amazing.

  • @BrokenBard My father was an old step dancer as was his mother ,,He was from Cape Breton Nova Scotia and always said Close to the floor, arms straight down the side and never wear those darn clickers on your shoes.''They dance great in this film but your right ,straight at the sides..:):) heard that alot.

  • @Angus01ful LOVE IT MY GRAN OL JEAN RILEY PLAYED MOOTHY TILL 89 SHE WAS GREAT ON THE DRUMS 2 LOVE THAT STUFF

  • @BrokenBard I'm from Cape Breton and I step dance and we never keep our hands by our sides or on our waist. You guys did really well ! The steps r a little different but besides that you'd think you were real Capers! :)

  • @BrokenBard

    Do you Know "Carrantuohill" ?

  • @BrokenBard

    very poor music.

    Listen Carrantuohill,

  • @BrokenBard Agreed; one girl arms straight the other swinging; would look EVEN BETTER if they both did the same thing. Great music too.

  • @BrokenBard, the way the arms are held in the national "styles" you're describing aren't authentic folk styles, but affectations invented for competition. In Scottish step (aka Cape Breton step) and Irish Sean Nos, things aren't so rigid.

  • @BrokenBard Yes, it's true. We dance this way from Cape Breton/North Shore. It's a kitchen style and arms swing freely. New World progression.

  • @DaisySage my name is sage. lol

  • @BrokenBard Is it not true, the only reason arms were kept at sides was to avoid being caught dancing by British occupiers?

  • @stmichael78 The reason why dancers kept their arms by their sides was at the insistence of the priest. He wanted to be sure that the dancers didn't get up to any monkey business - otherwise the girl would earn a one-way ticket to the Magdalen Laundry.

  • @stmichael78 no thats sheer myth the step dancing originated in the 18th century all over the British Isles this style here originates in scotland. The irish trad in its modern form of ceol rince is 100 years old the old Irish style was similar to this style but not the same.

  • @BrokenBard Step-dancing the Cape Breton style doesn't require the formality of Irish or Scottish. It's a looser and more informal dance style based on mostly Irish hard shoe. Arms CAN move around a bit. Take a look at other example on YT, you'll see what I mean.

  • @redrosestoo Or better yet, have a go at it for yourself! Great exercise and fun to do.

  • @CoinneachBan Ohhh my, I have to laugh!! LOL I'm a bit too "filled out" as it were....to be attempting to try this. Wouldn't want to inadvertently give myself some black eyes.....*chuckle* Better all around I should stick to watching others. ;-)

  • @BrokenBard screw that! get those arms movin!

  • what's the name of this... reel?
