Blaze was not the best when it came to singing the classic Maiden songs, but I love the 2 albums he did with Maiden, and his solo albums are some of the best metal albums in the past 10 years
I first listened to this 11 years ago. One of my favorite songs go-to Iron Maiden songs of all time. It's great that we have versions of this song with both Bruce and Blaze.

And I'm not knocking Blaze in any way, but anyone who was even attempting to replace Bruce Dickinson was set up for failure because Bruce is like the Neil Peart of metal vocalists. Anyone after him might as well just sit down and be quiet, but Blaze does have a pretty damn good voice. I just don't think that it was an appropriate sound for Maiden.

I love this song. Even though its not Bruce, the aural brilliance of the music is just fantastic. This is how music is supposed to be. Its supposed to strike a chord with you and make you listen and this song just nails it. Of course, written and produced by consummate professionals

I actually prefer Blaze's voice on this, I think it's right for the atmosphere. I'm not saying Brue can't sing the darker shit, but this just sounds better to me.
This was the album that started the band's shift to a more progressive direction. Musically they started to diversify their sound which is good cause they wouldn't be around today if they just rehashed the classics. If Bruce had sung on this album it would have gotten the same praise Brave New World did. That's too bad because Blaze was excellent. Its my third favorite maiden album.

@danielhall65 I have to disagree here. As a whole, X Factor was a really dark album, and I think Blaze's lower voice suits the mood much more than Bruce's would have. Sure, a song here or there at a concert might sound better by Bruce, but as a cohesive unit, I think that album benefitted so much from Blaze's voice.

Always thought that Blaze gave this song a Warlord Warrior feel, whilst Bruce's version leans toward the viewpoint innocent martyr, even though the lyrics are exactly the same. Love both, especially the ending.

I wasn't just talking about Bruce being a pilot, though that is pretty cool, I was talking about Flight 666, how they cover more world territory in such a small amount of time than any other band period. The Beatles were one of the best bands ever, I was talking about heavy metal, and Maiden, for a band with little media support, has still sold close to 100 millions records is pretty fucking impressive.

Sure, a song here or there at a concert might sound better by Bruce, but as a cohesive unit, I think that album benefitted so much from Blaze's voice.

@horiss21 Dude. cut the crap. Bruce left the band and Iron Miaden needed a singer. And the band asked Blaze to play vocals. I t was Bruces decission to leave. At least Iron Maiden kept making music for fans but some of you couldn't appreciate that.

Always thought that Blaze gave this song a Warlord Warrior feel, whilst Bruce's version leans toward the viewpoint innocent martyr, even though the lyrics are exactly the same. Love both, especially the ending.

I started listening to Within Temptation (Silent Force Tour DVD) and Nightwish (End of an Era) and now I am hooked on Metal with Orchestra background.

There are very few metal bands that have accomplished as much as Maiden, or been producing awesome music as long as Maiden has. This is not opinion but fact, results don't lie. I wasn't just talking about Bruce being a pilot, though that is pretty cool, I was talking about Flight 666, how they cover more world territory in such a small amount of time than any other band period. The Beatles were one of the best bands ever, I was talking about heavy metal, and Maiden, for a band with little media support, has still sold close to 100 millions records is pretty fucking impressive.

Also Paul was an awsome singer wich I like very much aswell.
Maiden in it's overall is a very good band and even though it switched several band members they're still Maiden.
