  • My brother and I were really stunned that HP and the Deathly Hallows part 2 is already leaked. We each enjoyed the whole thing on watchharrypotter . us

  • Many of us were pleasantly surprised that HP and the Deathly Hallows part 2 had been already leaked. We each saw the whole thing via watchharrypotter. us

  • 2:05 O.o !

  • What sort of software do you think they use to notate this sort of stuff?

  • @tom01011 Jeff Atmajian, the orchestrator, hand writes into the score. Of course, from there on, the parts are extracted. A common program to create parts from a score is Sibelius. Its becoming the industry standard

  • @tom01011 Maybe Sibelius?

  • Thank you for this video! I love this soundtrack!

  • @MyDanDoo ootp was pretty good..I'd say a very strong 3 star effort. HBP was incredible, to say the least.

  • fuck the haters. I like hooper.

  • Amazing!!!!!!

  • The problem is that most of the people was expecting a fully orchestral bombastic William-esque score. But that doesn't fit with Yates's visuals. I wished that Williams made the score for Half Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix, but maybe the music would have been the same stuff of the first three scores.

Hooper's style fitted perfectly in the darkness of the recent Potter films. And unlike Williams, Hooper it's a fan of Harry Potter saga) I hope Desplat make something dark like Hooper.

  • @yonythemoony Williams doesn't only do bombast, he's capable of incredibly beautiful and dark music. The third film had some wonderfully dramatic and scary underscore ("The Dementors Converge" and "Finale"). Not to mention some beautifully textured music like "Secrets of the Castle" and "A Window to the Past" (which was never used for GOF through HBP).

To me, Hooper did an adequate job with the two movies he did. I think Desplat can do a much better job; a good fit for Deathly Hallows IMO.

  • @mcjwserenity Exactly. His work for Munich and War of the Worlds was amazing. I always though that Prisoner of Azkaban was Williams's best Potter score. I'm sure that Desplat it's going to make a wonderful job. The tracklist it's promising, and some of his scores are amazing (Julie & Julia, The Ghost Writer, Hostage).

  • That's amazing. I wish we could play something like that.

  • ONLY MAGIC HAPPENS AT ABBEY ROAD !

  • Double Bass valve trombones - do my eyes deceive me?

  • I would like to Nicholas Hooper composed the music for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" ="((

  • I'm afraid that Alexandre Desplat has a lot more to his name that Nicholas Hooper.. Let's hope for something imaginative

  • Opening (L)

  • *UPDATE"

French composer Alexandre Desplat has been confirmed as the composer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

  • que regrese john williams a la 7

  • nick hooper will NOT be back. HE says composing the two harry potter films destroyed his family life. John Williams has expressed an interest in composing the last film. IF Williams truly wants to compose it, it will be done.

  • I actually know Nick and I think the Destroyed his family life remark is a bit strong. It was just bloody hard work!

  • Just reporting what NICK said...from his own mouth...it created a riff...

  • My favorite bit of the song is from 2:06 and onwards.

  • I definitely love John Williams work better, but in the scene where Dumbeldor died, the music was so captivating....PERFECT to describe the mood.

  • Nicholas Hooper made film 5 very very good! but i agree.. John Williams brings more magic.. but! In the last 3 movies there are serious trouble and no more magic for kids.. so the serious music is good..

i think Nicholas Hooper screwed up film 6.. film 5 was cool.

  • i wanna john williams return!!!!! he is the original!!!!

  • nicholas hooper is better for harry potter though.

  • your a joke hhahah John Williams blows Hoop out of the water man jsut look at his grammys and academy awards he and pull epics out of his ass

  • im a first clarinet in high school and one of my life wishes is to just once play for a scoring session...this is so cool!

  • i was first chair in in high for violin i really want to do this!

  • this piece is FRICKEN amazing!!! thnanks for posting this!!! gosh...i wish i could play music like them!!! i think john williams is the best but nicholas hooper was pretty amazing for both movies

  • funny the things orchestra people notice about these videos... like someone before said it's in 5/4. i like watching how quietly they try to turn the pages lol =D

  • .. and I love how people always give perfectly valid comments a thumbs down just because they don't agree with them. That's not the point!

  • its sooo gorgeous!! when this music started in the film, i got chills, i was so fucking in the zone, the movie was amazing, i have to go see it again in theaters.

  • Okay here's what happens:

    1. Pretty cool Hedwig's Theme on celeste with little tremolo flourishes from the strings

    2. Clichéd string elegy with suspensions

    3. A pretty weak choral/brassy swell that goes nowhere

    4. Pretty cool fragmented statement of Hedwig's Theme

    5. Clichéd percussive build-up... repeated at a slightly higher pitch.

The best parts were John Williams' music peering through. The rest? It's a fricking Harry Potter soundtrack and this was the best that could be done?

  • Completely agree. It's a really weak piece, and it's only exciting when Williams' ideas are poking through or just because the timbres are exciting to the ear and the fact that we know it's for the all-new exciting Harry Potter film. Bring Williams back!

  • u really studied this didnt you?

  • @BowieZ So we are assuming you can do it better.

  • @solariumetallium Firstly, do I need to be able to do it better to criticize something? No. Secondly, yes, I'm pretty sure I could do a better job.

  • @BowieZ sorry. you're right, you don't need to be better to criticize something. I've been watching your work, really cool, but I don't think you can do it better, at least not now, maybe in some years I hope.

  • @BowieZ make a demo with your music for the same scene and upload it on youtube. I think it would be interesting to hear because for all we know you might be the next john williams.

  • This music seriously doesn't deserve to be performed by a real orchestra.

  • Do you think really what you said ?

  • that was great!

  • Wow that just sent chills down my spine..Knowing what happens in the book and all the turmoil going down the music is a perfect fit (even if John Williams isnt on this film :( )

  • this is my dream job!! i always wanted to play for movies in recording sessions but i don't know how to start

  • you can start by knowing how to play different instruments. or joins contests to gain attention......

  • Mine too!!!

  • Sounds amazing !!

  • I hope John Williams comes back for the seventh films

  • Me too! He started it, he should have been throughout the whole series! (Even though i think Patrick Doyle did a better job than this guy...)

  • @needles94

    faill but desplates also good

  • @blueboy921 if john williams couldn't do it. im glad a.desplat did it because his music for DH1&2 was amazing

  • that's amazing. I think I might buy this one :D <3

  • That is truly amazing!!

  • and I already pre-ordered the soundtrack! like a week ago! haha

  • This is awesome!

I play the viola and this takes me back to all of those orchestra rehearsals...although the groups I've played in have never sounded this good.

  • wooow.

    that was just .. wow.

  • Nicholas Hooper's music for HP sounds much weaker than the score for the HP Game composed by James Hannigan. Check out the music here on youtube and you will see what I am talking about.

  • Wow. That sounds so cool! Very epic. Can't wait to hear it in the movie!

  • thats amazing! these guys all deserve a lot of respect with all the talent they bring. i get chills watching and listening this magic in action! i wish i played as well as these fellows..

  • genius score

  • that was awesome to watch! now i miss being in band... played flute for 9 years..

  • Yay, asymmetrical meter! I love 5/4!

Yes, I am a music major. Why do you ask?

  • I love this type of stuff! I played the cello for 7 years but stopped to peruse another field and I really miss it when I see things like this.

With music like this Half-Blood Prince is going to be awesome.

  • the end bit is very lord of the rings -ish with a twist of harry potter. awesome.

  • Amazing!!!!! Nicholas Hooper is a genius!!!! Cannot wait to get the soundtrack!

  • I can't wait for the movie. This sounds FANTASTIC!

  • sounds really cool. cant wait for the movie.
