Thank you for making this video. I have to have this surgery I had a spinal fusion 2 years ago my pain level was at 8 then after surgery it went down to a 2 and now because my neck and shoulders are hurting more and I can't hold my head down to read for more than 20 minutes it's time. I think my neck problems are making my back problems now hurt when I. Was almost pain free from the fusion in my back maybe after neck fusion my lower back will ease up as well. Anyone have any thoughts on this
Hi - I had this surgery done Oct 28th 2009 for C6/7 disc heniation. I've been really good until a recent bout of severe asthma which has made the buldge at C5/6 flare up. I am so fricken scared - I do not want to go through this pain again. I didn't think I'd have to...until now. I have all the old symptoms - nerve pain, pins and needels, weakness and bad headaches. I hope you'r OK now 2 years down the track after your surbgery. Let me know how you are
Seems to be working now! I've had complications with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, but seeing an osteopath who has been able to do amazing things. Helping me cope with the problems and we've planned a series of treatments that seem to be help. Also suffering from Carpel Tunnel, why just have one problem when you can have loads ;)
If you're on Facebook, have a look at the group I've posted details of on the main video post.
@FenOswin thanks I'll look at you FB page. Thanks for replying. Its great to know others have similar pains! And we're not that old (I'm 47 now, was 45 when had the op)

Fen, I hope you are well now. I just had this surgery 2 weeks ago today. They're telling me I shouldn't have pain at this point. I'm in such horrible pain, it's frightening! bigragu61@yahoo.com is my email. If you could tell me what you did afterward i would be so appreciative! Thank you for your time!
Hello Sir. Hope you are well, I am going to have a look at your blog in a moment for updates. I had the C5-6 surgery with donor bone and titanium plate five days ago. I think it is wonderful that people are posting their experiences because it helps to know first hand what to expect. Best to you.
@IAintTheWalrus - Hope things are going well for you. Maybe start a blog as well so that others can see your progress. The more of us out there talking about it the better :)
hello fen this is honesty 324 i just wanted to let you know that i have 3 post/op ct scans since the surgery on 3-11-10. first ct revels 5/6 fused 6/7 did not in 2 areas since then 2 more ct's were ordered the last done 7-19-10 that reveled one of the two areas at 6/7 has finally fused there is still an area that still has not fused. i am wondering if you had incurred any post/op pain that warrants you to take medication. i still suffer severe pain and remain on drugs NOT GOOD.
Find the right neurosurgeon. I was quickly losing my ability to walk, stand, and even lift a plate of food. Dr. Srinath Samudrala performed a perfect anterior cervical discectomy and fusion on three levels (ACDF). I experienced no pain following surgery or for the past 2 years. Dr. Samudrala utilized metal cages and filled them with cadaver bone to replace my discs. Perfect results! We need more neurosurgeons with the insight, talent, and integrity of Dr. Samudrala.
i had my duel acdf on march 11th a doner was used. 5/6 fused 6/7 did not in two areas. the day of surgery was a disaster. i have my reports of that day. the surgery was 6 hours long. at first healing seemed fine in the last month i began to feel pain at the base of my head and numbness has returned . i am scared, only option is to re graph. wondering how you are doing. do you know any body in my shoes. i hope yours is well. please respond i am falling apart.
this is evaeil. sorry for the trouble. my friend made evaeil and there were some technical difficulties so we had to make a new account. please respond from now on to honesty324. i got alot of insite from your vidieo and your respond. duing as much research as possible. what is your view on bone as opposed to artificial.
i hope that you are doing well. i was wondering if your voice has gotten better. please respond
hello there sir i am to get this surg done in a couple of weeks and was wondering if you can answer a question for me how soon after your surg were you able to return to normal everyday activity i am a super active mom who cant sit still any input would be greatly appreciated oo and one more thing the medicines you were on before the surg were you able to get off of them afterwards thank you for your time have a great day....
Thank you, I too had this surgery and you and I had the same sort of recovery. Only downside I still have hypersensitivity in my right finger (near thumb) I am hoping it will go away eventually. I have been post op now going on 3 weeks. Again thank you.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I am going for this surgery next week and have been TERRIFIED! It is hard to find any stories from patients who have had this surgery that are not negative and I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. I hope you are feeling much better. Off to check your blog now. CHEERS!
Good video. We need more people telling their stories so that others aren't so confused and frightened when searching for info on ACDF. I completely agree - better to fix problems early, since the damage to your nerves can end up being permanent, the sooner you fix the protruding disc, the less potential damage you may end up having to live with. Let us know how your recovery is in a few months time - my ACDF was 9 months ago and I'm feeling better than I have in 10 years.
Its refreshing to listen to/see positive results from acdf. Thank you for sharing your experience! Please update when possible. :)
