Hi Ken, the Souhtampton Young Communist League in 1968 promoted this festival through fly posting in the main town. Fly posting was an illegal activity and I recall the police visiting my home in the early hours of the morning, much to the suprise of my parents, but lead to no prosecution. We collected money for six bicycles and had metal tags attached to them with a solidarity message written in Vietnamese. Both my brothers went to Sohpia in a double decker bus taking the bicycles. Hi Ken, The Bicycles for North Vietnam solidarity that the YCL ran reminded me of when I was in the Stevenage YCL branch. We raised money to buy about 20 bikes, and the YCL removal lorry collected them for onward transportation to Sofia. Looking forward to the London Recruits book. Roger A
