@FyodorZarathustra It opens up the sample to an audience that may not have heard it in the past. The sample is so good that it deserves to be heard by a wider audience. It's exactly the same as the Duck Sauce track called "ANYway".
@FyodorZarathustra When we made the record, it was intended to be more of a tribute than a mockery. Brick was a group I liked growing up. I had just bought their Greatest Hits CD and figured this would be a great way to infuse some funk into a house track (this was not the first time we - 95 North - had done so). The gospel vox add the church flavor. The sample was cleared properly. I hear two separate records the same way I hear "It Takes Two" by Rob Base and "Think" by Lynn Collins.
@richardpayton1 besides clever sampling has been the back bone of hip-hop & house since they started. Daft Punk have made a great career from it. Another classic bouncey production Rich. :-)
@FrayBentos72 Thanks! BTW, be on the lookout for new releases from our label "95 North Records" starting in January or early February. The first release will be a track called "Ay-Tu-Bah".
I heard Bricks song then it came to me that i heard that sample from somewhere luckely someone guided me here. Yes i remember this song loads. Love that beat.
The original is better: Brick,'Living for the mind'. This guy just put a beat on somebody else's great song. I'm all for sampling, but give credit where credit is due please, especially when the sampler hasn't really made it his own.
@ifu03342 This will always be a debate - is it art to take a loop from another song and make it into another record? I can see where someone could say it is not. But on the other hand, it is not just taking a loop. When we made this record, we had to throw in additional percussion and other vocal samples, and arrange it to keep the listeners and dancers ears from getting bored from just simply hearing a loop over and over. I've found that it is not as easy as it appears...Rich - 95 North
What a CHOON!!! So simple, but that hook is just mentally addictive! The vid is ice-cool and remember thinking how wicked it was at the time... MEGA pleased it's on youtube. Nice one!
Love this song, heard it last night in the club. Thank god for Shazaam, eh?

Why would someone take a soulful funky song and turn it into a cheap plastic mockery? Just listen to the original.
