It's been about a year and a few ever since I last played Mother 3, but I still feel like crying whenever I hear the music. It's the music that is really haunting. Combine that with the plot and you've got one gorgeous game that can make even those that are cold of heart cry.

No seriously Porky was one of the most tragic characters in video game history, abused by his family, only loved when he had money, ignored by all his friends, hell he even appreciated what Ness was doing thinking of it like a rivalry. In Mother 3, his room in the tower he even had a shrine dedicated to his yoyo calling it his only friends treasure, a theater built in Ness's honor that showed his exploits, not to humilate him etc.
@ThisIsACoolGuy He wanted friends and adoration, attention that he could never get that was robbed from him thanks to his dangerous prank on Ness with Giygas. Yeah he's a asshole but he's almost totally sympathetic.
What makes this sadder is that Claus was a just a kid when he died, and Lucas went through all that shit at only ten years old (though 13 at the end). That's the thought that makes me tear up.
The picture is so sad, because a sunflower is Hinawa's favorite flower. I love this song, Mother3 is one of my favorite games. Nintendo knows how to make people sad. Mother 3 and PMD2 are major examples of this.
The main character disappears, and as you start to feel sad, the game pretty much goes "Nah, we're just kidding, jackass! The main character's fine! Ha, look at your face!"
I'm not saying that I wanted the MC to die, I'm just saying that it's such a tease to do that, and I pretty much just shut my game off after Dialga just went "Oh hey! I'm gonna use my new super-ultra powers, that no one knows about, to bring that random guy back to life!
@breloom657 I mean, PMD 1 did the same thing, and they did save the world, so the main character did kinda deserve to live. Plus I'm sure a pokemon game wouldn't take away your main character that you've been working on (and couldn't stop working on) throughout the whole game.
@jcmario643 yes, but no. im sure u dont need the explaination but i like to type. After failing to get revenge for his mother he went and dissapeared somewhere (nobody knows where). The pigmasks didnt find him, Porky did and trained him to be his mindless slave and turned him into the Masked Man we all know and love. Since nobody could find Claus and it had been 3 years, everyone assumed he was dead (all except his father). So somehow porky stays alive the entire time til Lucas comes around....
It's chilling to think that humans were responsible for raising what would become the ultimate evil in the galaxy, that an adoptive mother's tenderness and care twisted little Giegue into what he became, and indirectly caused the events in Mother 3 as well.

I got the game not to long ago, and I cired when i played it. It was turly one of the best of the mother's I have ever played. The maksed man was never evil only Pokey made him think he was his robot. Poor little ,Claus, never got the chance to live his life. I feel even sader for Lucas he had to do the killing him self. His friends only watched as they fought...I wish there was some way of letting Claus live. To see the wish of there mother and father come ture. Working togeather all ways...
What makes it so sad, apart from them being brothers, is the fact that they're so young. If they were in their late teens it wouldn't have had such an impact, but they're like 11 - 13. Plus the flashbacks with Hinawa and Flint made it even more heart wrenching. When ever I need to think of something sad for a story or something, this game is the first thing I think of.
@TheNODBrotherhood The entire mother series forces you to think further than in the simple description of good and evil. Even the people who look truely evil to you have a backstory that explain to the fullest why they act like that. It resembles real life a lot. No one and nothing is truely evil or truely good. Everythins has a story, everything a reason. In porkys case, he got corrupted by Giygas. Porky aswell is basicaly an innocent boy gone bad trough bad influence.
Itoi originally designed the game to have a far darker ending, in which lucas kills claus through battle, and then goes through a traumatic series of nightmarish battles that eventually leave him unable to go any further, the seventh needle just sitting there for eternity...
@RCT3Crashes100 he never killed claus. he shot a bolt of lightning at lucas witch reflected back at him because of the franklin badge giving claus mortal damage but claus seemed happy to have been freed from the pigmasks and he said he wanted to be with his mother before he died

1.-He betrayed ness and turned to giygas
2.-He is TOO annoying in mother 2

The picture is so sad, because a sunflower is Hinawa's favorite flower. I love this song, Mother3 is one of my favorite games. Nintendo knows how to make people sad. Mother 3 and PMD2 are major examples of this.

The main character disappears, and as you start to feel sad, the game pretty much goes "Nah, we're just kidding, jackass! The main character's fine! Ha, look at your face!"
I'm not saying that I wanted the MC to die, I'm just saying that it's such a tease to do that, and I pretty much just shut my game off after Dialga just went "Oh hey! I'm gonna use my new super-ultra powers, that no one knows about, to bring that random guy back to life!

@breloom657 I mean, PMD 1 did the same thing, and they did save the world, so the main character did kinda deserve to live. Plus I'm sure a pokemon game wouldn't take away your main character that you've been working on (and couldn't stop working on) throughout the whole game.

Here's what I think what happened to Claus. He went to revenge the death of Hinawa and something went wrong, then Pigmasks found him.
Pigmask 1: I found a child!
Pigmask 2: He can be our Commander!
Porky: He's perfect.

@jcmario643 yes, but no. im sure u dont need the explaination but i like to type. After failing to get revenge for his mother he went and dissapeared somewhere (nobody knows where). The pigmasks didnt find him, Porky did and trained him to be his mindless slave and turned him into the Masked Man we all know and love. Since nobody could find Claus and it had been 3 years, everyone assumed he was dead (all except his father). So somehow porky stays alive the entire time til Lucas comes around....

It's chilling to think that humans were responsible for raising what would become the ultimate evil in the galaxy, that an adoptive mother's tenderness and care twisted little Giegue into what he became, and indirectly caused the events in Mother 3 as well.

I got the game not to long ago, and I cired when i played it. It was turly one of the best of the mother's I have ever played. The maksed man was never evil only Pokey made him think he was his robot. Poor little ,Claus, never got the chance to live his life. I feel even sader for Lucas he had to do the killing him self. His friends only watched as they fought...I wish there was some way of letting Claus live. To see the wish of there mother and father come ture. Working togeather all ways...

What makes it so sad, apart from them being brothers, is the fact that they're so young. If they were in their late teens it wouldn't have had such an impact, but they're like 11 - 13. Plus the flashbacks with Hinawa and Flint made it even more heart wrenching. When ever I need to think of something sad for a story or something, this game is the first thing I think of.

@TheNODBrotherhood The entire mother series forces you to think further than in the simple description of good and evil. Even the people who look truely evil to you have a backstory that explain to the fullest why they act like that. It resembles real life a lot. No one and nothing is truely evil or truely good. Everythins has a story, everything a reason. In porkys case, he got corrupted by Giygas. Porky aswell is basicaly an innocent boy gone bad trough bad influence.

Itoi originally designed the game to have a far darker ending, in which lucas kills claus through battle, and then goes through a traumatic series of nightmarish battles that eventually leave him unable to go any further, the seventh needle just sitting there for eternity...

@RCT3Crashes100 he never killed claus. he shot a bolt of lightning at lucas witch reflected back at him because of the franklin badge giving claus mortal damage but claus seemed happy to have been freed from the pigmasks and he said he wanted to be with his mother before he died
