  • *I just HOPE whoever plays this instrument develops the same respect I was tuaght and the congas demand.

  • @congapraise, I agree with Jongraphs. We grew up incorrectly calling them congos. Most of the lead talkers in Go Go called them congos also. So are far as Go Go is concerned they are congos. If I were to refer to them in any other genre of music I would call them congas.

  • I grew up with go-go belive it or not I grew up on BYB, Junkyard, Rare Essence, etc. And I always thought they were called congos until I got smacked on the face with its history, it wasn't til then that I established respect for this instrument. I just whoever else plays the conga does the same.

  • Can we please stop calling them congos..... there congas. Never been congos never will be. Let me not get historical up in this peice....

  • In Go Go music, it's congos

  • Sorry my friend but it doesn't matter what genre of music your playing congas in, there congas. Its like me playing drums in another genre and calling them drams. Drums are drums... congas are congas. You just can't change the DNA of the conga or the identity.

  • Of course they are not really congos, it's just what they're called. It's a cultural thing. Like some people call the guitar an axe. Nice percussion videos, by the way I like your playing with Salvador

  • @congapraise They are congos. The word conga is the spanish variation on a reference to a dance to talking drums brought by the Kikongo people to brazil from where? The KONGO (CONGO) region. The original term is now then and forever shall be KONGO. So DC has it right

  • @eslubin I'm sorry to say that is incorrect my friend. The instrument being played in the video is a conga. Yes, there are drums that were originally brought from the republic of Congo, but these aren't they. These are an instrument created in Cuba by Afro descent slaves. They were invented to imitate the bata drum which came from southwest Nigeria. So although you make a great argument, what you just stated is not a fact in its entirety. They are called congas.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhh shit! 15 seconds, Damn.

  • i seen him live he nice as hell on the congos

  • Wow!!! That was a GREAT Nite!!!!
