    I love this.

    Your best yet, IMO.

    5 stars and a hand-clasp-thumb-hook thingy!

  • lol Thanks so much!

  • I always love a song that switches between singing and musical spoken word. This piece is amazing to me. For some reason songs that mention dates/years also strike a chord for me, so this song just went straight to my heart!

  • Thanks! This one almost wrote itself once I channeled my evil side.

  • Deach, the sound quality it top notch on this one. Is that a Pono boat paddle uke?

  • Thanks Danny. The uke is from BoatPaddleUkuleles.

  • your welcome, anytime!!! keep up all the good work!!!

  • made me want to curl up and suck my thumb. 1984 Grade 4; the class bully who was a big gal thumped all the boys flat! I hope she feels this bad.

Love the playing, the lyrics, and the singing.

  • lol. I hope she feels bad too! Thanks so much!

  • deach, this is wonderful

  • Thanks Shani!

  • this is a great tune Deach! such emotion. i hope you put this much feeling into your frontrubs.

  • Mahalozzzz and I think you know the answer to the second part.

  • I love the sparse arpeggios, Deech. Nice chord sequence too. Love it.

  • Thanks Ken!

  • i'm depressed. But in the best possible way.

  • Awesome! lol Thanks James!

  • I think the 80's were traumatic for everyone.

  • It must have been the all the bad hair and neon.

  • and the leg warmers

  • deach, you have totally risen to the challenge, and the challenge within a challenge, and possibly one within that that has yet to be revealed.

  • Thanks Mary-Anne. I love a challenge.

  • i think i figured it out...so 25 years ago you broke some dudes ukulele just for fun. then you became plagued by guilt, seeing what pain you caused the man with little hands you vowed to bring ukuleles to the world. THUS DEACH WAS BORN! (kinda like batman except nobody died and batman never dresses up like a woman, although it would be totally cool if he did)

    oh yeah, great song man.

  • lol! too awesome!

    Thanks Luke!!

  • dark and beautiful, deach. 5*

  • Thank you sir!

  • Terrific, man! Nicely done! I love the lighting in this video. Just perfect!

  • Thanks John!

  • Hey Deach, you're also a master of "The Ukulele Song Noir" as it seems! I wonder what happened then in 1984?! Maybe you beat someone up in school?

  • I'll never tell....

    Thanks Dirk!

  • that was sooooo nice. What were the chords you were playing for the verses? Were you playing the strings 4,3 (then both 1 and 2 together)?. It sounded really great for a ballad - I'm gonna try that. ps. can you trim those strings please- I was worried you'd poke yourself in the eye.

  • Thanks! Yes, I played Am and D and then G and D for the chorus. Oh and it's tuned a step down as well.

  • very gloomy, Deach, but I like gloomy songs most! excellent!

  • Me too! Thanks!

  • nice entry deach, very bluesy, love the spoken word verses, nice touch, as well as the pick pick strum verse pattern... *****

  • So you're the one! Well, let's let bygones be bygones. I forgive you, Deach.

  • Thanks Don! If only I could forgive myself.

  • wow...you're messed up! (just kidding man..this is some heavy sh*t. Cool tune brah.

  • lolz. Mahalozzz bruddah kine.

  • Very compelling...though I think the listener will never know what's really going on here. Love the darkness of this video.

By a curious coincidence, my wife and I met and got engaged in 1984. Hmm.....

  • Another coincidence, 1984 was the year of Big Brother. Thanks man!

  • Deep and dark. Amazing, Deach.

My favorite part is, "I pray to God every day, to give me more hate..." what a fantastic lyric. It really captures the mood of this one.

    Keep em coming Deach!

  • Thanks Greg!

  • aces! its like talking blues.. only like not blues but like blues.. % stars..

  • Excellent Deach!... I agree with everyone else, one of your best!

  • Exactly! Thanks Chris!

  • Great original Deach! You have already done 2 Restless Heart songs and I just started my first one. You are really on the ball with this challenge!

  • Thanks Nat. I had a long drought though.

  • Dude, that was intense! The lyrics were very expressive.

  • Thanks so much!

  • Brilliant! You're right about it being dark. Hauntingly dark, but I think this is one of your best. Great lyrics, and I loved the contrast in your playing style of the verse and chorus.

  • Thanks Michelle. The contrast was there to show the contrasting feelings. ....Look at me, talking all serious. LOL

  • One of your best Deach!

  • Thanks so much Craig.

  • Deep, insightful, dark-I loved it!

  • Thanks Hank!
