  • @arnufidice is this really morgan freeman? , I mean look again its not him

  • nobody ever means to put race into it, but you must realize that when all these american blacks made great music, instead of accepting it white america took it and tried to make it into something it wasn't...........lets see james brown, little richie, temptations, chuck berry. It took decades before these artist got realized for there original hits, and for some of them they didn't get their accolades til they were 6 ft deep, thats why some people add the black or white to the mix

  • see all the white nerds at the front ?

  • Soul muito curtido aqui no Brasil

  • Where's his cape?!?!

  • @djgca1 - The cape was used almost exclusively during 'Please Please Please'.

  • YESSSSSSS Peavey T-60 BABY!!!

  • So this is where mj got those jackets.

  • brings back memories, I've loved James Brown all of my life!!!

  • James Brown greater entertainer to hit the stage hands down...and Dont dare say Michael Jackson...every move Michael Jackson did he stole from James Brown...except that moon walk..that was Michael..he did patent that..LOL

  • god damn...he looked FUCKED UP!!!

  • LMAO 3:06 - 3:10

  • I taje exception to the description 'a driving force.....and in funk". He was not A driving force, he was THE driving force. He singlehandedly created funk.

  • Dumb ass camera work, missing his split and other moves. Jackass cameraman.

  • This is 1981 I think, and Mr. Brown was around 48 years old here! No one could touch him, even half his age!

  • funk is best music ever ! :)

  • Are these PAISTE 2002 cymbals?

  • Is Bootsy Collins on bass?

  • montreaux has seen some legendary artists....peter tosh, dennis brown, and so on this is great music. unparalleled greatness

  • This version of sex machine falls way short of the best version ever which was at mandalay bay in las vegas in '91. Music arrangement has everything to do with how a song is successful or not.

  • why isnt music like this nemore?

  • that's some of the heaviest bass grooving i've ever heard.

  • 38 people don't know how to party

  • lolololo someone said "Morgan Freeman" for one of the backsingers at 0:32, haha !

  • Holy Hell! THAT is an entertainer! The whole horn section is a coordinated dance section when they're not blowing their horns. James is rockin it in that sequin outfit and jammin and dancing - what a party band!

  • GR8

  • i saw him 3 times at Thessaloniki Greece, maybe the songs were the same but every time the performance and the brass band always has given to audience different things, i bellieve he was the "God Father" of soul and funk music.

    R.I.P JB

Well, they both wore jumpsuits from time to time.

Both are great innovators - look it up.

  • @aaron3009 Ummm, no he doesn't......Elvis ruled!.....but I like James Brown a lot!

  • He's just a big sweaty mess.

  • I wonder how much coke he took before this.

  • James was Funk and Soul. Nuff said.

  • Mr funky!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think is not Morgan Freeman lol. This man is too old to be Morgan Freeman. I guess Morgan hasnt been an old man all his life!

But they are very similar damn it!

  • @DavidElche87 It's St. Clair Pinkney on barritone sax. He played with James at least 40 years! Looks like Morgan from a distance.

  • i just love the chorus and when they build up to it again with the rap from the JB's

  • you cant say its black music, but you can say its it african originated music infuluenced, ofcourse, the actualy term of black music is wrong.BUT, yes.. it is black music XD

  • this is very goooooood music

  • The Godfather of Soul!

  • James Brown is just IT!!!!! Maybe Michael J., Prince can qualify to dance beside this guy, but his respect for his craft, passion for his talent/music/dance, no one can compare. Other performers just fade out beside him, you just do not see them anymore.

  • Whooo look at that outfit! Do your thang James, lol!

  • this is music!!

  • he rocked Woodstock 99 like a bad ass mother fucker

  • ok its not black music, but music of black origin! Born of experience, times of testing and times of joy.

  • TheAbidkhan made mi smile.....let's play this transparent song once again!!!

    ;-)

  • this is not black music , music does not have colour

  • nicely said ;)

  • I agree it have color

For it's melody and emotion artist put to their music

    but the fact is that

we shouldn't listen to them by categorizing them to ethnic or races

    Music is Music

We have Good music and Bad Music

    no more....

  • @TheAbidkhan So true, music is color-blind and also timeless. Great music lives forever.

  • @TheAbidkhan Yes it is. It is a style of music that is known to be primarily performed by black entertainers. I wish EVERYBODY would get off of this race kick. What's wrong if it is referred to as "Black Music"? That means to me to expect something GREAT. I am very white. I have true appreciation & respect for black music. I expect black music to pick me up & to give me energy, to elevate my mood. Black is not bad, it is VERY good. So just calm down that hypervigilant racist nerve you have.

  • @gayl09 YES i UNDESTAND , people hare are so fucked up , I am not the one who is racist , I just said music iss for every one white black brown pink , what ever some one is .. MUSIC IS FOR THE WORLD IT DOES NOT HAVE COLOUR , WHY NOT SAY AFRICAN AMERICAN STYLE , THEN TO SAY BLACK MUSIC OR WHITE MUSIC , WHAT EVER THE FUCK YOU ALL SAY IS SHIT .. MUSIC DONT HAVE COLOUR .. So just calm down that hypervigilant racist nerve you have.

  • @TheAbidkhan it has culture tho, and this is the epitome of the soul cultural movement which originated from black musicians and their culture. There's nothing offensive about calling it black music IMO unless you think of being black as a bad thing.

  • @TheAbidkhan yes it has...

  • @TheAbidkhan of course it isn't "black" music. Let you, and Pat Boone continue to take the credit away..

  • @TheAbidkhan and racism doesn't exist anymore since Obama is in office

Oh and there is no such thing as soul food either...

    Yep!

  • @TheAbidkhan music developed by african american music. rock n roll e.g. developed by jazz and blues, african american music. so jazz, blues, rock n roll, funk, soul, all the music of those days, it all began with african americans.

  • @TheFredHunter

Well said friend, well said. About time someone spoke the truth.

  • @TheFredHunter yeah and they build the pyramids

  • @TheFredHunter >> African-american is a myth. Black americans are nothing common with actual Africans.

  • @TheFredHunter Read about the Stono River incident and learn why Blacks were not allowed to own or play a musical instrument from 1743 until the Emancipation Proclamation stopped that shit. Blues is the ONLY original American music. From it came jazz, rockabilly and then rock and roll. Hicks claiming bluegrass or country - sorry. Irish folk songs and jigs. The country came from the rockabilly. It's blues, kids.

  • @TheFredHunter

Too bad they also developed rap

  • @TheFredHunter who gives a shit? why you gotta bring race into this? by the way, i am not a white guy...i am an IRISH AMERICAN!!!

  • @TheAbidkhan best comment i've ever read!!! =]

  • @TheAbidkhan you go and tell that to James Brown and he will chase you with his shot gun!!

  • @TheAbidkhan -whether you like it or not, most modern music was created and developed by black people, thats all we had and thats all we were known to create.

Chinese created fireworks, african amaricans created this kind of music - get over it!

  • @TheAbidkhan I can not agree. I have some pretty damn blue music that all but broke my heart. This done jump starts my heart though.

  • @TheAbidkhan

Actually, yes it does. This music originated from black gospel and blues. It is rooted in African culture and slavery (especially the rhythm on the offbeat (2&4) as opposed to European rhythm which is on the bear (1&3). Give credit where credit is do, but don't disrespect the heritage of African American musicians. This music existed in black clubs before white people even started going to them. You better believe it's black music. It has everything to do with who James Brown was.

  • @JurisArcane ugh...Thank You!!! Can never really own what is OURS! When Black music is really good, It's "Music has no color", "Music belongs to everyone". The minute some coon fool start "singing" and gyrating talking bout bitches and niggas it's definitely black music, because White would never want to be a part of that. You said it best, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

  • @Sunfizz44 its funny because everyday i see my white brothers and sisters attempting to gyrate while also expressing themselves with an overabundance of urban english slang. so be truthful in your observations, if what u are saying were true, there would be no white r&b or hip hop artists which ofcourse there are and great ones at that. your usage of the word coon symbolizes a flawed logic.

    mu2

  • @MU2GTR the point I was trying to make was that non-blacks for centuries have been trying to either take credit for what is African in origin, or try to cheapen African/black contributions to the world by making people believe they are incapable of doing so. Give credit where credit is due,of course James Brown is black music, the polyrhythms, the soul, the funk, how could it not be? Of course there are whites jumping on the bandwagon, they've been doing it for years, nothing new. thats the pt.

  • @Sunfizz44

My man, I agree. I'm a white boy from Louisiana. I know for a fact that for a while, R&B, Blues, Jazz, and those old spirituals from our nation's dark history, where silenced and kept as quiet as possible for a long time. It happened in my home state for sure. There were white churches, and black churches. White clubs, and black clubs. White schools and black schools. It took the National Guard to change that, but what was born in segregation, will always carry segregation's mark.

  • @Sunfizz44

    Cntd.

That truth cannot be silenced, and as long as people (such as those in this forum) want to keep pretending it didn't happen, the issue of racism will never end, because the wounds were never treated. But, the truth is powerful. James Brown was a man that looked beyond the hand that society dealt him, and brought us this wonderful music that was his culture and heritage, and I'll be damned if someone's gonna say his music had no color.

Happy Holidays my friend, and so long!

  • @JurisArcane gospel talks about god and Jesus not fucking being black and white .. english was made by white people and gospel is not black the Irish went there to teach black people gospel
