Right through the 1970s, Mick Jagger was a real target for drug addicted lunatics. He was attacked quite regularly on stage, by fans. In fact, one US gig in 1973, a fan rushed the stage and pulled a gun on him.

Basically, Jagger was pretty damn lucky not to end up like John Lennon during the era.

Keith Richards said decades later, in an interview, that he saw the guy going for Jagger, and feared the worse, so did something about it.

A buddy of mine scored me the video of the entire show at which this incident occurred - it's gotta be around still somewhere on the net, that's where he said he got it.

Funny to see the stage - it pales in comparison to their shows today!! Great vid, though - some wicked moments of George Thoroughgood coming backstage after opening, and trying to jam with Ronnie and Keith while they're warming up - Keith's polite as he can be, but he still runs him off, yelling "Terrible!!", then cackling lol

One thinks the reason Keef twated his guitar around that young fellows head was because it was starting to go out of tune , Keef didn't have time to tune it up so wrapping it around that chaps head was the quickest way to retune so he could carry on spanking the plank .
