I think it should be. Jordyn Wieber Aly Raisman Kyla Ross Mckayla Maroney/ Alicia Sacramone Rebecca Bross Alternate: Shawn Johnson Kyla, Jordyn, Mckayla/(Alicia) could do amanars. (Rudi) Rebecca, Kyla, and Jordyn could do bars. Aly, Jordyn, and Kyla/Rebecca/Alicia would do beam. Aly, Jordyn, and Rebecca/Mckayla would do floor. That would give U.S.A the edge on vault. Bars would be a lot stronger since Rebecca and Kyla are pretty good. Everyone is great under pressure on beam besides Mckayla.

I would like to point out that Bross has more difficulty on three events than wieber, so she will knock aly off the all around roster. Aly has shown that she really can't get onto the podium in the all around. Know she could get more points if she focused more on execution than difficulty. The judges will kill her with her execution at the olympics. I saw Rebecca at the last training camp and she already looks almost back to 100% like Valeri said she would. She is one tough cookie!
I say screw it. We should go with a dream team of all world/olympic all-around champions. Weiber, Sloan, Liukin, Johnson, & Memmel. It would be the first time in history!
@MrAerial12345 A Weiber, Raisman, Maroney, Sacramone, Johnson/Liukin team would be unbelievable, but I think it may be a little too vault heavy and not enough attention on bars. We have such strength on Beam and floor that I think those may come secondary. Vault will be Weiber, Maroney, (Johnson, Sacramone, or Raisman), Bars will be Weiber, (liukin or li), and (Douglas, Bross, or Memmel). Injuries will be first to dictate, but my thought is Wieber, Maroney, Bross, Johnson, Liukin. Raisman as alt
@MrAerial12345 So you are saying Johnson, Wieber, and Raisman for sure and possibly Liukin? I did some calculations and figured out that the team would most benefit with Wieber, Liukin, Raisman, Douglas (instead of Johnson), and Sacramone (instead of Maroney).
@jyosefr how would douglas factor in better than johnson? I can see sacramone over maroney - maroney has the best vault, but sacramone is better all around. Personally i think Johnson would bring much more to the team. Douglas is good on bars, but she's not as stellar as say Liukin and Douglas doesn't really shine on much else (she's excellent but not a standout) Johnson has consistency and the ability to be a star on multiple events. Personal opinion though
@MrAerial12345 Hi. I think the US would benefit more by taking Bross over Raisman. I believe Bross placed third on floor at worlds last year just like Raisman this year. Plus, Bross has the highest start and execution values on bars in the country.

Hi I think you forgot about Bross. She is recovered and getting her skills back. in the mean time she was working on bars even more. I dont think Sacramone has a shot due to her injury. Plus she would have to upgrade to a double twisting Rudy since Wieber, Johnson, Raisman, and Douglas are planning to throw Amanars next year. What do you think about Raisman. Can she upgrade floor any further? It would be nice if so.

I don't think Alicia will go back. I think Alicia's place on the team is filled by Maroney, also she doesn't do bars as we all know. I think Shawn will go for sure if she gets her uneven bar difficulty up just a bit more. The US team is super weak on uneven bars and she's good, consistent and a vet and everyone loves her. Prediction: Weiber, Maroney, Johnson, Bross, Raisman or Douglas depending on where they are weak. FX or UB
@ULibby wow. I totally agree. We can even exclude Raisman and have Johnson, Bross, and Wieber cover the floor if they do minor upgrades in connection points.
Oh and next year Wieber is planning to end floor with a full double back instead of the double pike.

What about Chellsie Memmel? I'm not that well up on USA gymnasts but I thought she was making a comeback and she was one of my favourite gymnasts from the 2008 team. Also what about Sam Peszek and Bridget Sloan? I thought they were both good and they're experienced
@ParanoidAndroidDA chellsie might be an alternate. she's a great gymnast, but we have so many other great ones right now and there can only be 5 on the team. the problem is she hurt her shoulder on bars at the Visas, so let's just hope she recovers in time. in my opinion it's going to be Jordyn, Aly, Alicia, Rebecca if she recovers in time (if not, then McKayla or Chellsie), and Shawn.

Sam Peszek has retired from elite as far as I know and is focusing on NCAA (college gymnastics) and Bridget is injured at the moment but is planning to try make the 2012 team I think!!

And ya, the chinese have dropped down the ranks.. I think Jiang Yuyuan and yang yilin wont make it, but Deng Linlin and Sui Lu will make it i think, because of their beam and sui lu's floor. And Zeng Ziqi (?) is soooo cute!!
Call me crazy but I think the team should be Bross, Wieber, Douglas, Wofford, and Sacramone. I think its the perfect combination for power, flexibility, and experience. Lots of if's though...
Only 5 for teams so I say- Wieber, Bross, Sacramone, Johnson, Sloan. Either Johnson or Sloan could be replaced for a better bar worker if Wieber doesn't upgrade bars.
AA- Wieber, Johnson (possibly Bross).
VT- Sacramone, Wieber, Johnson.
UB- Sloan, Bross, Wieber (or Johnson, but most likely Wiebs).
@MichalekMM haha no they wont! Have you not seen them in competion lately? The only gymnasts they have that are still contenders are He Kexin on bars, Tan Sixin, and Jiang Yuyan. That team is nothing like it use to be!
@gymnasticsfan14 Jiang has been in a bit of a slump since worlds. They have Deng Linlin still but she's losing her magic. Cheng is back and competed about a month ago at the Chinese Nationals and did amazingly! DTY, Gomez, DBP on floor, et cetera. Huang Qiushuang has a hand injury too and Wu Liufang is injured. But they have Zhang Yelinzi for beam who I suggest you check out. I agree, China isn't what they were in 08. My bet is that they will be 4th in Tokyo and probably London. Watch Zeng Siqi!
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 Yeah but they are still nothing like they use to be! In 2008 it was the USA & China fighting for gold. While Russia & Romania would fight for bronze. Now in 2012 it will be the USA & Russia for gold. & Romania will still most likely get bronze considering they have improved alot!
@gymnasticsfan14 That's most likely the battle but with Belu back, Romania is going to steadily improve. I have almost no doubt that China will be 4th. Someone posted a comment on either YouTube or IntlGymnast that said China will be like how the US was in 1996 and 2000. In 1996 we won, in 2000 we flubbed. But China will have a great team. I say only 2011 and 2012 seniors, and then their rock, Cheng. And He Kexin. My ideal team for China 2012- Cheng Fei, Zeng Siqi, He Kexin, Tan Sixin, Sui Lu.
Jiang Yuyan will be on the team! And Huang Qiushuang would be if she was more consistent! I don't think Cheng Fein is as good as she was in 08! She's missing that spark! And to me Deng Linlin is better now than in 2008! They could use her on beam!

Vault, they have 4 girls (not sure what Sui does) doing DTYS; and beam, Tan, Zeng, and Sui are all better than Jiang. Surprisingly with my team, bars is their weakness. They could have He, Tan, and Sui/Zeng. Or Huang Huidan on the team in place of Sui Lu to do just bars and beam. Well Cheng CONTINUED.
@gymnasticsfan14 CONT is just coming back so of course she's not as good as she was during her peak. But her vault now could even medal at worlds! And her floor is coming along well. I don't think they'd bring Deng just for beam because Sui, Tan, Zeng, and Huang Huidan are amazing there. And Deng got 6th on beam at Chinese Nationals on a sloppy (no fall) routine. Her 1/1 layout is amazing. Huang Qiushuang probably would, and her hand injury doesn't seem to be too serious so she'll be back soon.
Love your choices! Though I know this was made before you knew for sure that Shawn would be back, I don't think she should be on the team. She left gymnastics right after the last Olympics! How can you expect to come back and be that good again?
the problem with shawn is that we havn't seen her compete yet. She was obviously an amazing gynmast but she did stop and it all comes down to if she can become amazing again. Because even though she is an olympic champion if she doesnt meet the standard she is not going to be put on the team. I'm rooting for you Shawn I hope you make it back big!
I don't think both Alicia Sacramone and Alexandra Raisman will both make the team since they specialize in the same areas. Personally I'd prefer Raisman over Sacramone. But I'm rooting for Shawn Johnson to be on that team.
I don't exactly agree with the selections, theres so much that can happen between now and then and theres so many girls with talent and the question will be is it enough? since only 5 girls are going it will come down to who can compete on which events and is it enough to beat russia with Mustifina. Also there are so many girls yet to move up to senior ranking the only one you chose of them is Jordyn which is seemingly obvious

We really don't need Nastia back just for bars cause we have girls that can do pretty good bars.I think its stupid to bring a gymnast for one event. I don't have total faith in Shawn yet but she will not be an all arounder. She said so herself that she is back for the team competition. Just my opinion

I would like to point out that Bross has more difficulty on three events than wieber, so she will knock aly off the all around roster. Aly has shown that she really can't get onto the podium in the all around. Know she could get more points if she focused more on execution than difficulty. The judges will kill her with her execution at the olympics. I saw Rebecca at the last training camp and she already looks almost back to 100% like Valeri said she would. She is one tough cookie!

@MrAerial12345 A Weiber, Raisman, Maroney, Sacramone, Johnson/Liukin team would be unbelievable, but I think it may be a little too vault heavy and not enough attention on bars. We have such strength on Beam and floor that I think those may come secondary. Vault will be Weiber, Maroney, (Johnson, Sacramone, or Raisman), Bars will be Weiber, (liukin or li), and (Douglas, Bross, or Memmel). Injuries will be first to dictate, but my thought is Wieber, Maroney, Bross, Johnson, Liukin. Raisman as alt

@MrAerial12345 So you are saying Johnson, Wieber, and Raisman for sure and possibly Liukin? I did some calculations and figured out that the team would most benefit with Wieber, Liukin, Raisman, Douglas (instead of Johnson), and Sacramone (instead of Maroney).

@jyosefr how would douglas factor in better than johnson? I can see sacramone over maroney - maroney has the best vault, but sacramone is better all around. Personally i think Johnson would bring much more to the team. Douglas is good on bars, but she's not as stellar as say Liukin and Douglas doesn't really shine on much else (she's excellent but not a standout) Johnson has consistency and the ability to be a star on multiple events. Personal opinion though

@MrAerial12345 Hi. I think the US would benefit more by taking Bross over Raisman. I believe Bross placed third on floor at worlds last year just like Raisman this year. Plus, Bross has the highest start and execution values on bars in the country.

@cp826676 not after liukin comes back. I think Nastia knows that f she wants to make it starting this late, she has to focus on bars, Nastia is amazing, but she's behind. She needs to be amazing on bars so that they cant so no, i'm sure valeri will have nastia over bross in no time

Hi I think you forgot about Bross. She is recovered and getting her skills back. in the mean time she was working on bars even more. I dont think Sacramone has a shot due to her injury. Plus she would have to upgrade to a double twisting Rudy since Wieber, Johnson, Raisman, and Douglas are planning to throw Amanars next year. What do you think about Raisman. Can she upgrade floor any further? It would be nice if so.

@cp826676 Hey. Yep I totally know what you're saying but I like USA Gymnastics on Facebook.. and they recently posted a picture of who is for sure going to London 2012. On the picture it had Raismen on itt. (: Raismen, Sacamone, Douglas, and Wieber. It didn't have Rebecca Bross or Mattie Larson. But Rebecca has gotten WAY better so She has a great shot making it again. (:

I don't think Alicia will go back. I think Alicia's place on the team is filled by Maroney, also she doesn't do bars as we all know. I think Shawn will go for sure if she gets her uneven bar difficulty up just a bit more. The US team is super weak on uneven bars and she's good, consistent and a vet and everyone loves her. Prediction: Weiber, Maroney, Johnson, Bross, Raisman or Douglas depending on where they are weak. FX or UB

@ULibby wow. I totally agree. We can even exclude Raisman and have Johnson, Bross, and Wieber cover the floor if they do minor upgrades in connection points.
Oh and next year Wieber is planning to end floor with a full double back instead of the double pike.

What about Chellsie Memmel? I'm not that well up on USA gymnasts but I thought she was making a comeback and she was one of my favourite gymnasts from the 2008 team. Also what about Sam Peszek and Bridget Sloan? I thought they were both good and they're experienced

@ParanoidAndroidDA chellsie might be an alternate. she's a great gymnast, but we have so many other great ones right now and there can only be 5 on the team. the problem is she hurt her shoulder on bars at the Visas, so let's just hope she recovers in time. in my opinion it's going to be Jordyn, Aly, Alicia, Rebecca if she recovers in time (if not, then McKayla or Chellsie), and Shawn.

@ParanoidAndroidDA She is but the USA have a lot of really strong gymnasts at the moment so it will depend on if she stays healthy . . . she injured her shoulder at Visa's this year.
Sam Peszek has retired from elite as far as I know and is focusing on NCAA (college gymnastics) and Bridget is injured at the moment but is planning to try make the 2012 team I think!!

And ya, the chinese have dropped down the ranks.. I think Jiang Yuyuan and yang yilin wont make it, but Deng Linlin and Sui Lu will make it i think, because of their beam and sui lu's floor. And Zeng Ziqi (?) is soooo cute!!

Only 5 for teams so I say- Wieber, Bross, Sacramone, Johnson, Sloan. Either Johnson or Sloan could be replaced for a better bar worker if Wieber doesn't upgrade bars.
AA- Wieber, Johnson (possibly Bross).
VT- Sacramone, Wieber, Johnson.
UB- Sloan, Bross, Wieber (or Johnson, but most likely Wiebs).
BB- Johnson, Bross, Wieber/Sacramone.
FX- Johnson, Wieber, Bross.

@MichalekMM haha no they wont! Have you not seen them in competion lately? The only gymnasts they have that are still contenders are He Kexin on bars, Tan Sixin, and Jiang Yuyan. That team is nothing like it use to be!

@gymnasticsfan14 Jiang has been in a bit of a slump since worlds. They have Deng Linlin still but she's losing her magic. Cheng is back and competed about a month ago at the Chinese Nationals and did amazingly! DTY, Gomez, DBP on floor, et cetera. Huang Qiushuang has a hand injury too and Wu Liufang is injured. But they have Zhang Yelinzi for beam who I suggest you check out. I agree, China isn't what they were in 08. My bet is that they will be 4th in Tokyo and probably London. Watch Zeng Siqi!

@ShawnVikaKomova2012 Yeah but they are still nothing like they use to be! In 2008 it was the USA & China fighting for gold. While Russia & Romania would fight for bronze. Now in 2012 it will be the USA & Russia for gold. & Romania will still most likely get bronze considering they have improved alot!

@gymnasticsfan14 That's most likely the battle but with Belu back, Romania is going to steadily improve. I have almost no doubt that China will be 4th. Someone posted a comment on either YouTube or IntlGymnast that said China will be like how the US was in 1996 and 2000. In 1996 we won, in 2000 we flubbed. But China will have a great team. I say only 2011 and 2012 seniors, and then their rock, Cheng. And He Kexin. My ideal team for China 2012- Cheng Fei, Zeng Siqi, He Kexin, Tan Sixin, Sui Lu.

@gymnasticsfan14 Jiang is still a bit in her slump but by then could be back. Sui Lu basically covers Jiang's area of floor, though. And then Cheng, Zeng, and Tan are all terrific on floor as well. Vault, they have 4 girls (not sure what Sui does) doing DTYS; and beam, Tan, Zeng, and Sui are all better than Jiang. Surprisingly with my team, bars is their weakness. They could have He, Tan, and Sui/Zeng. Or Huang Huidan on the team in place of Sui Lu to do just bars and beam. Well Cheng CONTINUED.

@gymnasticsfan14 CONT is just coming back so of course she's not as good as she was during her peak. But her vault now could even medal at worlds! And her floor is coming along well. I don't think they'd bring Deng just for beam because Sui, Tan, Zeng, and Huang Huidan are amazing there. And Deng got 6th on beam at Chinese Nationals on a sloppy (no fall) routine. Her 1/1 layout is amazing. Huang Qiushuang probably would, and her hand injury doesn't seem to be too serious so she'll be back soon.

Love your choices! Though I know this was made before you knew for sure that Shawn would be back, I don't think she should be on the team. She left gymnastics right after the last Olympics! How can you expect to come back and be that good again?

the problem with shawn is that we havn't seen her compete yet. She was obviously an amazing gynmast but she did stop and it all comes down to if she can become amazing again. Because even though she is an olympic champion if she doesnt meet the standard she is not going to be put on the team. I'm rooting for you Shawn I hope you make it back big!

I don't think both Alicia Sacramone and Alexandra Raisman will both make the team since they specialize in the same areas. Personally I'd prefer Raisman over Sacramone. But I'm rooting for Shawn Johnson to be on that team.

I don't exactly agree with the selections, theres so much that can happen between now and then and theres so many girls with talent and the question will be is it enough? since only 5 girls are going it will come down to who can compete on which events and is it enough to beat russia with Mustifina. Also there are so many girls yet to move up to senior ranking the only one you chose of them is Jordyn which is seemingly obvious
