There is a serial killer in Japan that got away because he was a US soldier. This is because when the guy is in a US military base the Japanese police can't do shit without evidence (not even go inside the base to look for evidence), and the guy took all the evidence with him into the military base.

Although we'll all agree that any nuclear belligerence is abominable, and even war in general, the nuclear bombing of Japan was really the least violent method the US could have taken to end the war. If they'd invaded the mainland, every man, woman and child would have defended their country and the casualties could have been horrendous. Still, of course there's going to be hate.
